BASQUE FESTIVAL IN DUBLIN TO PROMOTE UNDERSTANDING OF BASQUE CULTURE AND STRUGGLE

BASQUE
FOOD, MUSIC, EXHIBITION SHORT VIDEOS AND FEATURE FILMS.
IRISH AND BASQUE MUSIC CONCERT.

12 noon to 12 midnight
Saturday 18th September

IONAD AN PHIARSAIGH, THE PEARSE CENTRE,
Institiúid na hÉireann, The Ireland Institute,
27 Sráid an Phiarsaigh, 27 Pearse Street,
Baile Átha Cliath 2. Dublin 2.

Participants will have the opportunity to view an exhibition depicting Basque country, culture, political struggle and repression. Also to taste Basque food, listen to Basque music and song, see Basque instruments and watch Basque feature films (subtitled). Evening will end with a Basque/ Irish music concert.

Objectives:
• Raise awareness of Basque culture and current political issues
• Cover costs of hire and hopefully raise some additional funds for the Dublin committee’s work
• Increase support for Dublin Irish Basque Solidarity Committee

Content:

Exhibition of Basque images (cultural, political, geographical)
Grnd Floor 1pm-6pm
Basque food available for sale
Kitchen and later theatre 1pm-10pm
Showing of Basque short videos 2nd Floor (large) 1pm-6pm
Film showing:
Itsasoaren Alaba
Nomadak Tx (Eng. subtitles) Theatre 6.30pm

Concert Irish & Basque music
Theatre 9pm

End and spectators vacating 24.00
