Have a look at what Hare Coursing is all about...seeing is believing...

category national | environment | event notice author Tuesday January 12, 2010 02:33author by Ban Hare Coursing - Campaign for the Abolition of Cruel Sports Report this post to the editors

A reason to join the peaceful demo against live hare coursing on Feb. 3rd...

On February 3rd 2010, an alliance of animal protection groups will come together to mount a peaceful protest against one of the world's most barbaric bloodsports. ALL WELCOME AT PROTEST DEMO!

Please join us outside Powerstown Park, Clonmel, on February 3rd for a peaceful demo...on the third day of the National Hare Coursing Festival...a public orgy of terror and delberate cruelty to animals.

As coursing fans from around Ireland, and from countries where this obscenity is banned, gather to scream their approval for the live baiting sessions, we (and hopefully you!), the dissenters against this hangover from the days of industrial schools, corporal punishment, clerical domination of Irish life, and general inhuman barbarism posing as "sport"...will protest in silence and quiet dignity outside a latter-day coliseum.

Please do not be put off by the fact that some leading Fianna Fail and Fine Gael politicians actively support the terrorising of defenceless animals for human amusement, just as politicians of a previous generation (from the same parties) were happy to back the State-run institutions where horrific abuse took place...

Please don't be intimidated by people in high places who tell you not to "open your mouths against hare coursing".

Instead...consider joining us on the day to send a message to government...that the savage bullying of the weak by the strong (with or without political backing) is no longer acceptable in our society.

The protest runs from 12.30 pm to 2 pm. It's time to take a stand against a "sport" that could well be a metaphor for all that was and is rotten in Dear Old Ireland...
