Shell publishes public notice of application for a foreshore licence Shell has published a public notice as part of its application for a Foreshore Licence in respect of the revised Corrib Gas pipeline route in the Examiner 18th August 2009, p.33. Public submissions are allowable for a period of 2 months from this date. The notice informs members of the public that Shell seeks permission to occupy the foreshore area (a) from the 12 mile limit through Broadhaven Bay to landfall at Glengad and (b) Sruwaddacon Bay east of Glengad. According to the 1933 Foreshore Act, the word "foreshore" means the bed and shore, below the line of high water of ordinary or medium tides, of the sea and of every tidal river and tidal estuary and of every channel, creek and bay of the sea or of any such river or estuary. |

Please, if you do so, be as detailed and focused as possible. It will not help, and may hurt, the opposition to this project in its current form, if we send in submissions containing unproven allegations, name-calling, or emotive language (though it can be hard not to be emotional in the face of such an awful situation!)
The Shell thieves and thugs have already stolen a large piece of public beach, filmed families visiting the strand nearby, and destroyed sand-martin nests despite their legal 'protection'; Pat O'Donnell's boat was sunk in suspicious circumstances, although he can't claim the illegal sinking on his insurance; Shell's opponents are struggling for all our rights against such enormities, and more power to them!
