Ethical Development Action, Bloom Movement for Global Justice and Christian Aid Ireland
Invite you to a Public meeting and Global Justice Training Weekend in Cork:

'Introduction to Global Justice Issues in the Context of the Global Financial Crisis'

Friday April 24th - Sunday April 26th 2009

Friday April 24th, 7pm

Public meeting - “A World in Crisis - Now is the Time for Change”

[NOTE: All Welcome. You do not have to sign up to the full training weekend to attend this public meeting]

The climate and financial crisis has challenged old certainties and demonstrated how unjust and unsustainable the current world order is for the vast majority of people. There is now an opportunity to explore the case for a new economic model that is more democratic, socially just and environmentally sustainable.

The meeting will be addressed by a highly experienced Ghanian activist Charles Abugre, Head of Policy and Advocacy, Christian Aid UK, along with a local economic justice activist (name to be confirmed on the coming days).

The meeting will explore the impact of the global recession on Ireland and the countries of the Global South and discuss arguments for transformative changes to the world economic system.

Venue: Victoria Hotel, St Patrick Street, Cork.
Time: 7pm to 9pm.
Date: Friday, 24th April 2009

Saturday 25th April 10am - 3.30pm
Sunday 26th April 10am - 3.30pm
'Introduction to Global Justice Issues'

The training weekend will begin at 10am on Saturday morning with an introductory session on global justice issues. The 2 days will be divided into workshops on three core themes:

Global tax justice (Saturday morning)
International trade and the European Union (Saturday afternoon)
Food Sovereignty for the Global South (Sunday morning)

The weekend will finish with a session on global justice campaigning skills.

All the workshops will have a strong emphasis on inter-action and participation.

Venue: Victoria Hotel, St Patrick Street, Cork.
Time: 10am to 3.30pm
Dates: Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th April 2009
