SEOMRA SPRAOI
Seomra
Spraoi is Dublin's very own radical social centre... Today in Ireland
there is virtually nowhere indoors for people to congregate that isn't
a pub or overpriced cafe. There are many successful autonomous social
centres in other European cities, independent of local authority,
church, business or other controlling body. These spaces have provided
a focal point for many of the social movements in the West, where
public spaces have been eaten away by consumerism, property speculation
and the culture of the car.
The new (fourth generation) space has
been open for a couple of months now and actually just had a very busy
and successful launch weekend -
The space facilitates a mad range of
activities ,from film screenings to regular workshops on every possible
topic (including bike repair, stencil and graffiti, electronic music
production,permaculture,gardening,legal support,activist skill sharing
to name just a few),political meetings to cross dressing
parties,acoustic gigs and a truckload of other interesting stuff - - -
