There's something distinctly illiberal about what goes under the name 'Political Science', says Prof James Alexander. Half its practitioners want to control our thoughts and the rest wonder why no one trusts government.

Rotherham is Children's Capital of Culture 2025! With workshops on diversity and being queer, it's every child's idea of fun, and the ideal tonic for unnamed traumas that definitely had nothing to do with diversity.

Arrests in Monaghan and Fermanagh

Three men have been detained in a cross-border operation targeting Republicans in Counties Monaghan and Fermanagh.

Three men have been detained in a cross-border operation targeting Republicans in Counties Monaghan and Fermanagh. Two men were arrested at their homes in County Fermanagh at around 7:00a.m. on Tuesday morning following the arrest of a man by the 26-County police in County Monaghan on Monday. They are being held under the provisions of the “Offences Against the State Act” and the “Terrorism Act 2000” respectively.

Seven carloads of RUC men arrived, along with a jeep and a transit van, at the home of one of the Fermanagh men this morning. At least some of these were based in Armagh. They brought equipment capable of forcing entry into the property as well as tools for lifting manholes.

RSF Director of Publicity, Richard Walsh, said that the operation once again showed the collaboration between the forces of both statelets within Ireland.

“It is ironic, though not surprising, that at a time when the Free State are falsely claiming continuity with the First Dáil – which came into being exactly ninety years ago to the day – they are collaborating with those who subverted Dáil Éireann, and locking up those who seek to secure the realisation of the high ideals expressed in the Mansion House in 1919.

“The operation carried out on both sides of the border, and indeed the very existence of that border, give the lie to the claim that the administration operating out of Leinster House is the linear successor to the First and Second All-Ireland Dáil.”

Yer joking aren't you? "The 26-County" police???
The majority of the people of this island north and south voted for the parties in government in Stormont and in Dail Eireann.
Ye obviously don't believe in representative democracy do ye?
How do ye expect the people of Ireland to come behind ye in the struggle for Irish freedom from British rule if ye display such total contempt for their democracy?
And you wonder why yer numbers are so small?
Pathetic and utterly laughable.
Straight out of Father Ted or something.

Republican Sinn Féin has learnt that three men who were being held following vindictive raids against known Republicans on both sides of the border have since been released without charge.

Republican Sinn Féin has learnt that three men who were being held following vindictive raids against known Republicans on both sides of the border have since been released without charge.

Two men detained at their homes in County Fermanagh yesterday morning were released at around 2p.m. The third, who was detained in County Monaghan on Tuesday, was also released shortly beforehand.

A spokesperson for Republican Sinn Féin said that this once again highlighted the vindictive nature of such operations, which have become a frequent occurence.

“This is yet another reason why people must stand with the Republican Movement in seeking an end to English rule, which has been disastrous for our country. We also reject the recent assertions of Gerry Adams which preceded and perhaps pre-empted the raids that Republicanism is a criminal ideology.

“The only way forward is for the Irish people to determine themselves following a complete and permanent British withdrawal from Ireland. Only this All-Ireland Republic derives from the same authority as the Dáil which was convened ninety years ago.”
