Picket called for by 'Save Sligo's Cancer Services' group as Harney opens the 4th All Ireland Cancer Confrence

This Monday,December 1st, Mary Harney will be formally opening the 4th All Ireland Cancer Conference in the Four Seasons hotel in Dublin.

Harney's opening of the conference immediately precedes the first discussion which is on "Cancer screening and prevention". The first speaker, Professor Jack Cuzik, is speaking about the advantages of the HPV vaccine. Prof. Cuzik was booked before the reversal of the HPV vaccine programme by the current goverment.

The 'Save Sligo's Cancer services group' has called for a picket outside the venue to coincide with Harney's arrival. The picket is to oppose the recent decision to cut funding for the cervical cancer vaccination programme for 12 year old girls.

There will be two buses coming from Sligo/Donegal to attend the protest. Unfortunately,It is on an awkward day for most people. However, If anyone is free on Monday morning, we are meeting at 9.30 at the four seasons hotel. Harney will be arriving at approximately 10.30.
