Four Released in Republican Probe

category national | miscellaneous | press release author Sunday September 07, 2008 00:14author by Richard Walsh - Republican Sinn Féin Report this post to the editors

Four Republicans captured in Newry and South Armagh have been released without charge.

Four men who were being held captive in Antrim RUC Barracks were released by 23:15 hours GMT on Saturday. The four were taken captive in Counties Down and Armagh on Friday evening.

One of the men revealed that he had been interrogated during four different sessions over nearly 30 hours of captivity. The first session focused on his work, and the second focused on how he knew the other detainees. The RUC claimed that the operation was “intelligence-led” and that the raids were pre-planned.

Director of Publicity, Richard Walsh, said:

“The people of Newry and South Armagh will realise, however, that the actions of the RUC are merely the continuation of a long tradition of oppression and intimidation of Republicans. Those who seek to control the RUC from Stormont wish to prove their bona fides when it comes to dealing with Republicans, and have regularly called upon people to inform upon them and set them up.

“There is an onus on Nationally-minded people to reject the RUC and those who seek to promote them. These are enemies of Irish Republicanism.”

these people were not taken captive they were "Arrested" and they are not detainees as you so elegantly put it they are "Prisoners". Its not Guantanamo Bay. You will find that they were arrested in accordance with the law of the land and are subsequently being held in accordance with same. THey are "Questioned" not interrogated. The police force is correctly called the "PSNI"

This is typical republican rant which does little to promote Ireland as a country. Your use of inflammatory and language will do little to help the youth develop their own views.

Police forces are not the enemy of Republicanism rather republicanism as you see it is the enemy of the people. If Nelson Mandela can move on why are you still clinging to your outdated notions and trying to bring others along with you. People dont want any more Omaghs or Eniskillens and won't tolerate crime being carried out in the name of republicanism. Remember the people have spoken listen to them before its too late

I wonder if the person calling themselves "True Irish man"??????? really has any idea about Irish history at ALL???

First of all in regards to other comments on this web-site,Ireland is split in two!!,With a border in the Northern part of it,I dont no if you noticed or not but some people call it northeren Ireland and it has a currency called sterling!!!! I ask you Mr True irishman............

How can a country be a Republic if it is in fact split in two, with two currency's in effect, and two supposed governments in each partitioned state??

I also put this to you that if the english had not invaded our shores would there have been any conflict in Ireland at all?

Now in regards to the situation at the moment in the Occupied six counties of northern Ireland,The english crowned forces are still there, the RUC as they are known are still harrasing and intimidating Republicans, they are still harrasing them as go about there daily buisness,MI5 only recentley built and completed a new head-office in the occupied six-counties, remember the name only changed from RUC to PSNI not so long ago,and remember this,That it has been proven by the police ombudsman in the occupied six counties that there was collusion between loyalist death squads and the RUC/PSNI, I also wonder if you could tell me the name of the RUC before they were named the RUC???????

I also put it to you that you have a problem with people who believe in the Republican cause, because you are infact ignorant to the Republican movement.
I wonder if you have read the Irish proclamation of 1916 and set out by the First Dail Eireann in 1919????

It is quite obvious that you MR "True Irishman" are in fact quite ignorant to the history of our land and that if you had a slight idea you would not be posting messages on this web-site dogging Republicans and there supporters. Maybe you should get the history books out again and have another read of the section marked IRISH HISTORY. And then maybe post something a bit usefull and a bit interseting for the rest of us to read.
