Launch Of The Richter Collective

category dublin | arts and media | event notice author Friday March 28, 2008 13:21author by Richter Collectiveauthor email organised.ideas at gmail dot com Report this post to the editors

We are an Independent DIY record label, music distributor and gigs promoter. The Richter Collective was set up in 2007 by Organised Ideas//Armed Ambitions and Popular records after a series of split label releases.

As a distro we stock only good quality independent labels and artists, the majority of which are based in Ireland. As a label we are currently working with three bands; Adebisi Shank , We Are Knives and The Vinny Club, more will be announced very soon.

Live Music on the Night will Feature :

Los Langeros (Cork)

Bio:
Corks infamous miscreants, Los Langeros, have ploughed their own idiosyncratic path over the last few years of their volatile existence creating a sound unlike any other, encompassing as it does punk, rockabilly, hardcore, bluegrass, doo-wop, reggae, surf and country. Each of their three independently released cds reflects a different aspect of this development and their incendiary live shows are the stuff of legend (or at least urban myth). They have recently recorded a radio session for 2fm (described by Dan Hegarty as 'brilliant') and released a split 7' single with fellow Leeside freaks Ten Past Seven with who they share the Highest Bands in Ireland crown. They are taking a brief break from writing and recording a new album to kick ass at the following gigs around the country;
Thursday April 3rd - The Crane Lane Theatre, Cork w/ Ilya K.
Friday April 4th - The Blackbird, Ballycotton, Cork.
Saturday April 5th - The Lower Deck w/ Ten Past Seven.

Ten Past Seven (Cork/Kerry)

Ten Past Seven are Matt on Bass, Ger on Drums and Rory on Guitar. Having witnessed the live monstrosity of local Cork bands such as Weevil (RIP) and Rest, they were inspired to create their own blend of instrumental madness. There followed a few weeks of intense writing, in which instrumentals were loudly and violently excreted from the artistic parts of their brains. After they had a small set together they started playing with bands such as Charlottefield, Mono, Brood, Noxagt, Berkeley, Giddy Motors, Redneck Manifesto and a shit load of other fantastic bands. There's too many to mention. This is Ten Past Sevens mighty return to the capital !

Bats

Formed in the early part of the Pliocene age, BATS (featuring ex-members of Martha Washington) have spent millions of years developing their sound from a series of intermittent bleeps to the sexy sonic bullets they create today. 4 out of 5 BATS hail from Ireland's alpha-smoke- Dublin, while the other crawled his way on bloody knuckles out of the haunted town of Carbury, Kildare in the mid 1600's.
In early 2007 BATS began peddling their love around the island and have since played support to such acts as Gang Gang Dance, Down I Go, The Locust and Liars.
December 2007 saw the release on independent label Armed Ambitions of their debut EP entitled 'Cruel Sea Scientist' and the frightening of some smaller children.

Discarded Retarded

Spawned as a direct result of the lamentable growth of political correctness and pseudo-noveau-riche-politicism that has engulfed the island of Ireland, The Discarded Retarded felt let down by their society, their government, their planet, and themselves. With that, they cobbled together a travelling circus of some renown before it was raided and branded an illegitimate bastard-child of a freak show.

Take note, The Discarded Retarded are a shambles, a hybrid country-rock band with more balls than sense - they'll eat your ears before you can listen to them, given half the chance. So put your wheelchair in the bin and get on your feet - dirty doo-wop is here to stay.
