Please Join ARAN's Protest in Dublin, March 2008

Exciting news! Pamela Anderson was in Paris yesterday where she launched a news conference to expose Canada’s heartbreaking seal hunt.

The news conference took place at the headquarters of Foundation Bridget Bardot and was literally covered with reporters from across Europe brining much needed attention to the plight of the seals, she later delivered a letter to the Canadian Ambassador in France urging him to put pressure on his government in Canada the very ones who lie to the public and the media and who tell people everything is really ok! She also spoke with Bridget Bardot from her home in St Tropez, Bridget Bardot was the Pamela Anderson of the 60’s and 70’s a super international celebrity who is now in her 70’s and still campaigning for animals.

As a Canadian, I can't wait until the seal hunt stops. Pam has my support for speaking up for defenseless animals
No wonder she left Canada! Let me tell everyone out there that most Canadians oppose the seal slaughter but the issue is very political and the only way the hunt will close down will be when markets for seal products close down, so don't stop pushing for a ban of seal products in your countries.
The people that take part in the hunt are uneducated fishermen who think they have a god-given right to live off the ocean and destroy everything at will. No wonder Canada was the only country who blocked a UN moratorium of bottom trawling. The government wouldn't dare offend Newfoundlanders! Let me tell you, most Canadians are ashamed of Newfoundland and Labrador. Don't travel there and don't eat their seafood!!!!!!!

I don't blame Pam one jot for leaving Canada. At least they don't hunt seals in the States AND they have banned imports of seal products. Mike from Canada is absolutely right - Canadians who disagree with the hunt, which are the majority, are looking to outsiders to put a stop to it because of the politics here. In the meantime our government is spending more tax dollars to put forth its propaganda to the rest of the world. The budget for doing that seems to be endless, but when it comes to other issues which affect MORE Canadians, suddenly the coffers run dry.

Being anti-cruelty does not equate with being anti any particular nationality. As it has already been pointed out, seals and other animals do not care about boundaires created by humans. Here in Ireland we have plenty of cruelty going on and plenty of protests by both Irish and international activists who want to stop it.

That said, I would have serious reservations about associating the AR movement with the likes of Brigitte Bardot. Granted, she has done fantastic work for animals during her life, but no true AR activist would want to be associated with her due to her fascist leanings and ties to the French national front.... ONE STRUGGLE, ONE FIGHT, HUMAN FREEDOM, ANIMAL RIGHTS!

I'm a Canadian and, like most Canadians, I detest the seal slaughter. There is nothing Canadians can do about it because the three major political parties all support it (because they can't get elected without the Maritime vote). It's up to the rest of the world to stop it, and I wish you the best of luck. Keep up the pressure! (Always, at this time of year, stooges for the sealing industry flood the net with pro-sealing garbage, but they do not represent normal Canadians.)

Seals don't care about the nationality or packaging of anybody, they just need saving from wholesale slaughter. Good for Pammy, hope she goes on to more work defending flora, fauna and environment.

Once again Pam Anderson calls herself Canadian after becoming an American citizen. In my eyes she is the same as Paul McCartney and Heather Mills coming into Canada to judge our lifestyles and culture. Please remember Ms Anderson you walked away from Canada and therefore cannot in good faith call yourself Canadian
