An updated invite, contains some more details on the gathering:

FEMINIST GATHERING, LEITRIM, 2ND-5TH MAY 2008.

***Attention all feminists! Register now if you wish to attend. ***

RAG, the Dublin-based anarcha-feminist collective, are organising a gathering in Leitrim on the bank holiday weekend, 2nd–5th May 2008. This will be a chance for feminists of all genders to come together to discuss, learn and share in a radical but supportive environment. As final plans for the weekend are being drawn-up, we’d like you to register now if you wish to attend.

The weekend begins on Friday evening with an introductory session, followed by two days of workshops and talks on a variety of topics relevant to feminism in Ireland today. The gathering will combine rigorous political discussions and creative workshops to inspire and motivate. Topics explored will include capitalism and oppression; gender and activism; family structures; pro-choice reproductive rights; consent and personal boundaries; female solidarity; queer feminism; men and patriarchy. Workshops on dance, bookbinding, crochet and cross-stitch will also take place over the weekend, as will child-friendly activities. There will be live traditional music on Saturday evening and a mystery tour on Sunday night.

This wonderful event will take place in a rural setting in Leitrim, just over two hours from Dublin. Costs will be kept to a minimum. Feminists of all persuasions (and all genders!) are welcome. We also hope to make the gathering an inclusive place for children. All food (vegan and vegetarian) will be provided for a small charge or donation. Accommodation is camping, though we will help those with any special needs and there are also B&Bs nearby. Unfortunately, although the site is relatively flat, all areas are not wheelchair friendly. However, we will do our best to make the gathering accessible to those with disabilities.

Please note that no pets are allowed on the site.

More details on the gathering, what to bring, what not to bring, information on public transport and the registration form is available on: www.ragdublin.blogspot.com.

If you are interested in attending this gathering, or have any questions or suggestions please email: ragdublin at riseup dot net.

Places will be limited so get in touch now!

Solidarity and strength,

RAG Dublin xxx

Final date for registrations is Thurs 24th April.)

Do you have any other special requirements/ allergies/ medical conditions/ anything we should know:

Are you bringing any children?

If yes, give details, name, age, any special requests/requirements:

Do you have any skills you can bring to the gathering? Can you bring a musical instrument?

Will you be able to come early or stay late for set-up/clean up?

Briefly, what aspect of feminism would you be most interested in exploring at the gathering, or in some other way explain why you wish to come along (for us to gauge people's expectations!) Would you like to suggest a workshop or topic for discussion?

Things you should know!

Please be aware that this Gathering has a DIY ethos. Everyone will be expected to help out in some way. There will be work rotas on which you can volunteer and fill in your name. Everyone can participate in workshops and discussions. Your initiative is also expected and welcomed. We are fundraising for the gathering but would also appreciate financial donations from participants.

The food provided for the weekend will be vegan. The land we are going to has a strict no-meat policy. Rubbish from the meat attracts a lot of wild animals (foxes and pine martins) that then might try to eat the hens. Similarly no dogs or other pets are allowed.

You must also be prepared to take special care with any rubbish. There is a recycling area and instructions will be provided. You will have to take any non-recyclable rubbish you produce away with you.

There will be a washing area – but no shower – so shower before you come. Since all will be going into the groundwater, we ask that you only bring biodegradable toothpaste and personal stuffs. The toilet facilities will be constructed outdoors. There will be separate areas for pee and poo - so – ahem - practice doing one at a time now!

The nearest bus and train station to the Gathering is at Carrick-on-Shannon. Search on www.irishrail.ie, www.buseireann.ie. Decide which time you will arrive and let us know so we can get you collected.
If you are driving, contact us for map/directions.
