The whole of the south inner city is up for development. Dublin City Council are in the process of drawing up or have already drawn up framework plans for our communities. However in the past years we have seen areas like Cork Street developed without any real thought for the needs of the community. How can we make sure that this will not be allowed happen again? This meeting is to get a clear picture of what is ahead over the next few years and to see how we can have our say.

Speakers:
Richard Boyd Barrett has a proven track record at local and national level of organising community and grass-roots movements to raise the issues that matter. He believes that it is People Power not promises that bring real change. He has been centrally involved in fighting for and winning the battle in the Save our Seafront campaign. Recently People Before Profit won a campaign to keep St Michael’s Hospital in Dunlaoghaire open.

John Gallagher is a local Councillor for the South Inner city ward for the Labour Party. John is a community activist and has been involved in many campaigns in the inner city which have benefited local people. He firmly believes that people’s needs should be to the forefront in local communities.
