news report
Thursday October 25, 2007 19:18 by Max - S2S
For the 2nd day in a row, the drilling of test boreholes on Shells' proposed pipeline route was halted. Yesterday at around 1pm, Shell to sea protestors stopped Shell’s illegal work for the second day running. Eight RPS workers were found drilling at Leanamor on the route where Shell had previously illicitly laid parts of their pipeline. The workers were performing a similar drilling operation as in Glengad the previous day, only this time it was adjacent to the boardwalk, which has still not been removed despite Noel Dempsey ordering them to take it up when Shell were found to have breached his consent. |

Great report, great farmer, great activism, great pics ... bloody great!!!
Chilly morning :
He is making me feel cold, need to turn up the heating, clocks go back remember
These men will go down in history as todays heroes. Well done.
Shell, you will never get local consent or governmental consent for this project, this pipeline will not go ahead despite your threats and intimidatory behaviour..You underestimated the will of the people of Ireland. Check out the Irish Times poll. An overwhelming No vote.
Well done Maura H and others!
It is uplifting to see such bravery and strength of will. Up in Dublin, Bertie gets a 38,000 payrise, while he spends a small fortune on make up, and costs us money while he is chauffered around to cushy meetings.
Meanwhile, in Mayo, real Irish people get off their bums, and go and do what has to be done, without wringing their hands, or taking an envelope to look the other way.
Shell, take note, you can't break the truth with a baton. And you can't fool the people once they've opened their eyes.
All the best to the good people of Erris. Long may ye be remembered, for many years after Shell are gone.
Brilliant, brave, inspiring, committed, people yet again stop the money-machine from destroying their homeland.
Yes to jobs, though they won't be so many as Shell make out, but the only safe way for this project is to refine the gas at sea - Shell can easily afford that, since they got the rights to Ireland's gas dirt cheap.
Good shot of Willie in the Bog !
Maura is a national joke. Do your campaign a favour and push the eject button. John Monaghan is your natural leader.
maura is far from a joke - for a lady she has some balls - unlike your good self throwing abuse through your keyboard - why not try meeting these people - you'll soon see shell to sea does not have leaders - only decent people with a common goal - unlike the pricks in the dáil driven by greed and power - ar aghaidh leis an obair mhaith maura agus ná bac leis an amadán sin! shell chun sáile abú!
its great to see the real strenght of ireland that exists in the hearts of those who "believe" in the Shell to Sea cause, this needs to be fought by every native of ireland and i hope the good people of north mayo have the backing of the whole country and continue to inspire irish people to stand up and be counted, we have been gagged and we have been naive , but its not too late to pull this out of the fire .
Veni Vidi Vici,
Chris
