In their desperation to claim some sort of victory, any sort of victory Ógra Shinn Féin are engaging in the worst form of political opportunism.

As of today (Tuesday) the British army's Operation Banner ends and Operation Helvetic begins.

Are ÓSF aware of Operation Helvetic and what it entails?

Just in case, here's the main points:
5,OOO British soldiers will remain garrisoned in 10 bases across the Six Counties.
When deemed necessary, they will continue to provide support to the RUC/PSNI.
Helicopter 'training' flights will continue as normal.
All the powers which the British army in the Six Counties were enabled to use as part of emergency legislation have been granted to them on an indefinite basis.
So Brits in the North of Ireland can still stop and question, arrest, search, enter and seize.
The non-jury Diplock courts which have fitted-up hundreds of opponents of British military occupation will continue to operate.

Considering these inconvenient details, the slogan of Slán Abhaile doesn't appear very appropriate.

Hardly Liberation Day, is it?

Makes them sound like little gnomes. Well, you could look at it this way - there's 5,000 Irish people stationed the length and breadth of the island for each and every British soldier now, and with the prosperity and lollipops more than 30,000 millionaires who are already showing their willingness to learn the art of light aircraft aviation the hard way. Ah yes - but it's a tricky biz. Nobody is using the word victory - but they know what slan abhaile means.

But they continue to build MI5 headquarters. No need for British Soldiers when they now have SF backing the PSNI.

The above contributors are no doubt fellow travellers of one micro group or other. I am duty bound to inform you that they are a criminal outfit up to their necks in the drugs trade. Furthermore any contribution they may have made to republicanism in the past did not in fact happen or was really carried out by Belfast people now fully supportive of Gerry Adams and anything he says / does / feels.
The republican movement played no part in their future death / arrest.

That's sweet coming from a party, $inn Fein who are now fellow travellers of the DUP in the Puppet Government that sits in Stormont an institution which so many died to bring down. Republicans like me are no longer surprised to hear $inn Fein leaders parrot the propaganda of the British Government & Unionists, because in order to retain their given positions of privilege they must prove that they are worthy to be allowed to play a part in the farce that is leasing this part of Ireland from the British Government.
Martin really played his part in appeasing Paisley with his statement about the Japanese soldiers in the Jungle. Now the rest of his party are off and running with their statements trying to criminalise the Dissidents.
I am not a supporter of any organisation still trying to fight a war that has been made unwinnable by the treachery of others, but I don't see them as criminals.
The real criminals are those who have profited by the sufferance of others. Wise up Ogra....you will one day... I did.
