If Trump does half of what he's said he'll do on 'Day One', he's going to have a very busy day. It includes pardoning the Jan 6th defendants, slapping 25% tariffs on imported goods and kicking men out of women's sports.

Justice for the Bellanboy 3

category dublin | rights, freedoms and repression | event notice author Thursday July 12, 2007 14:43author by Caoimhe - Dublin Shell to Sea Report this post to the editors

Justice for the Ballinaboy 3 GPO 2pm, Sat 14th July

Dublin Shell to Sea Public Protest against the jailing of the Bellanaboy 3 at 2pm this Saturday the 14th July.

In the summer of 2005 the high court jailed five Rossport men on foot of an injunction taken by tranational energy comapany, Shell. Public outrage at this injustice saw thousands of people taking part in protests all across the country - protests which ultimately led to Shell backing down and the release of the men.

Now two years later another three men from the Rossport area are facing jail, once again in relation to Shell's controvesial Corrib development and once again they will need thousands of people to take to the streets in support of their cause.

Dublin Shell to Sea are organising a protest on the island in the middle of O'Connell Street (across from the GPO) at 2pm on Saturday the 14th of July.

For those who care about the right of a community to peacefully protest and for those who care about what is happening to the Ireland's natural resources the time to make yourself heard is now!

Make sure and come along on Saturday and bring as much noise and colour as you can.

Following the protest an open public meeting will be held in Seomra Spraoi to plan how best to respond to this latest miscarriage of justice and abuse of Garda power in Rossport.

There is a need now for a large and definitive response to let the Garda Síochána know that while our government may be happy to sit back and allow this to continue there are many to whom this is unacceptable.

Seomra Spraoi is located at 4 Mary Street which is on the Luas Line to Heuston just past Capel St. It's the building with a To Let Sign on it.

Caoimhe I assume that was you that was on the radio this morning, you need to get real as there is no comparison for going to jail for the courage of your convictions (which can be said to be a laudible trait in a person such as the Rossport 5 case) and assaulting Gardai and expecting to get away with it because you believe you are right (ie the Bellanaboy 3) as you are calling them.

One look at the youtube vids of actions in Bellanaboy tells me that it is the luck of god that a protestor has not been killed by a passing truck, I suppose if this happens the Gardai will have pushed the person out and we will have more protesting.

Also people are getting sick and tired of this campaign and how it has been infiltrated by subversive elements and anarchaic elements.

Stay in your own counties and worry about them think of he carbon footprint you are laeving in your journeys to Mayo. Let Mayo people solve Mayo problems and all you dubs try to do something about the homeless problem in dublin and other such issues.

Get jobs and contribute positively and come down from your moral high ground to the real world. Get real people the gas is coming whether you like it or not. If we were in many other countries you would have had lots more to complain about re police behaviour. Leave well enough alone contribute to your own communities before trying to preach to us.

The three Erris fishermen are to be released on bail this evening while they are awaiting their appeal.

The protest tomorow will however go ahead, to highlight the continuing and intense harrassment of local campaigners in Erris by the Gardaí. These three fishermen are still facing potential imprisonment and we need to show the Gardaí that we will not be oppressed by them jailing us on trumped up charges,

So come tomorrow and show solidarity with all of the people in Erris who are on a daily basis facing enormous oppression, intimidation and harrassment.

All welcome

Bring colour, noise, yourself and everyone you know!

The conviction of the Porturlin 3 is wrongful & based only on the word of Gardai; if you had witnessed cops' behaviour at Bellanaboy you'd not endorse the imprisonment of local people trying to protect their own families & homeland. The gas can be processed safely at sea, which is all those with the courage & savvy to resist Shell & Government current plans are asking for.

When and where will the appeal be heard?
