Question Your Representatives
The Galway Shell to Sea network has launched an ‘ASK FRANK FAHEY
CAMPAIGN' that seeks to promote a healthy and active democracy by
asking key questions of public representatives, and in
Particular Mr. Frank Fahey.
Galway S2S network have identified local representative Junior Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Frank Fahey TD, as a key figure in Relation to the Corrib gas dispute. In our research it emerged that, besides Frank's role in facilitating Corrib E&P (Shell, Statoil and Marathon), there are also a number of allegations surrounding his representation of us his constituents in public life that may merit questioning.
The campaign does not seek to encourage personal abuse of Mr. Fahey,
only to encourage QUESTIONING. We are entitled to know what Frank and his colleagues in political life have been doing as OUR REPRESENTATIVES, within OUR PARLIAMENT and WITH OUR TAXES.
We'd like people to meet Frank Fahey and ask him to provide full,
clear and honest answers on well known areas of his political and
business life.
In particular, we'd suggest people ask him about:
The OIL AND GAS deal that gave away billions of Ireland’s natural
resources to multi-national corporations during Franks term as Minister of the marine and natural resources. This gas deal, with Fianna Fail, PD and Fine Gael support, has also led to human rights abuses and environmental destruction in North Mayo. In this deal, Norway (via Statoil) will benefit more than Ireland, as will their health, education and social services.
The fact that Four hundred acres of Coilte Land was sold for an undisclosed figure to the Corrib E&P project. This was land owned by a semi state body- that means that the property of Irish citizens has been disposed of by a government who refuses to reveal the amount received for the land or the whereabouts of this money.
That he acted in a manner repugnant to our constitutional rights to property by issuing compulsory purchase orders in favour of a profit driven private company not a state agency working for the common good.
The fact that as Junior Minister for Justice he has allowed the Irish civil police force- the Garda Siochana be used for the purposes of providing security for a privately owned Multi-national at a cost to us of over Five Million Euros to date.

OTHER QUESTIONS SEEM TO BE SURROUNDING FRANK IN RELATION TO:
His own ‘lost at sea’ scheme: 75% Of the Two million of taxpayers money allocated to this scheme was given to just two individuals.
His involvement and support for the enormous Atlantic Dawn trawler to the detriment of Irelands small independent fishing industry
His Hazy recollection at the MAHON TRIBUNAL of receiving
donations from Monarch properties.
Information on all of the above can be found online and in the
national press records.
