The topic of the discussion in this next meeting will be the question of "What is Socialism?"

As always we welcome contributions to the debate from interested individuals and organisations.

I ask again, will the debating society debate the betrayal of James Connolly by his supposed followers in ITGWU at the Belfast Docks?

In case the society hasn't been following my comments on indymedia, these followers of Connolly in concert with the employers sacked union members and ordered them to their deaths by making them work at asbestos.

We had a debate on the present day trade union movement around the time of May Day last year. I don't see why it's a topic that shouldn't come up again though.

I have read some of the pieces on Indymedia and elsewhere about the issue of the trade unionists being sacked and workers being forced into areas with asbestos, but is there any site that acts as a resource for the history of this case, somewhere where I could go to find out all about it instead of getting snippets from here and there?
