The cops have obviously been told they can use whatever force is necessary, as long as the highway is kept clear. If this means hurting protesters, journalists, visiting politicians, whatever it takes...
And those who say that that the violence is actually caused by the protesters- what can they say now?

I didn't think it was actually that bad. Those Garda need some sort of retraining into defending the Irish public rather than protecting silly tainted corporations like shell.
