North American author and physician identifies connection between mental illness and a market driven society

Dr Susan Rosenthal will be reading extracts from her latest book at the Irish launch of her book in:
Buswells’ Hotel… Molesworth Street, Dublin 2

North American author and practicing physician Dr. Susan Rosenthal argues in her latest book ‘Power and Powerlessness’ that there is an identifiable connection between mental illness and the type of market led economy currently found in many industrialized countries including Ireland of the Celtic Tiger.

“Social power”, she writes, “is necessary for human health”. Dr Rosenthal claims that, “…most people lack the healthy, fulfilling lives they deserve because they are kept powerless and mistakenly accept this state of affairs as natural or self-inflicted.”

Dr Susan Rosenthal will be reading extracts from her latest book at the Irish launch of her book in:

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dr. Rosenthal has been practicing medicine for more than 30 years and has written many articles on the relationship between health and human relationships. She is also the author of Striking Flint: Genora (Johnson) Dollinger Remembers the 1936-1937 General Motors Sit-Down Strike (1996) and Market Madness and Mental Illness: The Crisis in Mental Health Care (1999). She is a member of the National Writers Union, UAW Local 1981.
