Is it not obvious, we cannot allow our native gaelic and unique Irish culture to be diluted by suspicious foreign types. As Margaret once said, we could be swamped. Recently I felt swamped in a supermarket by lots of foreign types (some were people of colour)and became very worried. These people are almost all "economic refugees" just like our own people but unlike them we have pale skin. Well done Aine for all your efforts to make this day possible.

.. that the Yankee Gunships and GameBoy Soldiers paradeing through Ireland are bringing back or in any way contributing to Gaelic Culture?

That is the most dangerous foreign influence I can see. What was in that old song again, something about "... a province once again!", wasn't it?

You'll soon learn that sarcasm, irony, and a sense of humour has no place on Indymedia, no matter how well intention.

Some poefaced fool who had their sense of humour extracted from their soul through their left nostril with a complicated hook attachment, by the SWP, will slap you down, and witter on, making you wonder why you bother in the first place.

I am afraid that in the Ireland of the 21st century, a black sense of humour and a sense of irony is a necessity. The raids on the homes of refugees is appalling and sadly do enjoy the support of sections of the population in our country. Some of us do our best to assist people who have sought refuge in this country, but we do not have the resources of the state.

I've found whenever anyone attempts to utilize a sense of humour on this website you're greeted with po-faced, right on, lefties who lost their sense of humour years ago.

My advise is unfortunately avoid using your sense of humour at all costs it'll only lead to trouble.

Hello folks,

I work in a news-room and when the PDs announced Michael McDowell as their Dublin south-east candidate for the election I told my journalist colleagues that he was Ireland's version of Jean Marie Le Pen, except Le Pen is honest while McDowell hides his prejudices...

I was laughed at, but given that McDowell supported the Blair-Berlusconi plan to punish countries who do not speedily readmit refugees and has now sent his troops (ie the Gardai) to round up people with dark skin, I think I was right...
