Colonialism justified to develop west says Oligarch McEvaddy

category international | anti-war / imperialism | other press author Monday January 22, 2007 22:50author by anon Report this post to the editors

Yes it is 2007

This story arose while indymedia was off air, as usual I just summarise/archive other press/blogs, McEvaddy and Irish companies involvement of US war machine is such a collosal issue its hasn't written about specifically for while and it difficult one to tackle.

http://www.unison.ie/irish_independent/stories.php3?ca=...15076
"We will be looking at the US market initially as well as other international potentials," he said yesterday, with the charter business the most likely first target, including companies like Ryan International and American Trans Air. It is understood that other markets the airport will target include South Africa.

Knock airport says itis going to use the new open skies agreement to get new long haul routes via Knock any other ideas have been put on the long finger.

Now I don't know if this was just an off the cuff remark on that got out of hand although Knock Airport is a private company and the shares are held in trust for the people of Connacht by Monsignor James Horan, McEvaddy who was a close personal friend of the airport founder who served on the board of the airport from 1986 to 1989.

But as Christy Moore asked Why what they needed that big long runway for

Knock board refuses to rule out US military flights
http://www.irishexaminer.com/breaking/story.asp?j=25328...91&x=
Businessman Ulick McEvaddy has confirmed that he will discuss allowing the US military to use Knock Airport at its next board meeting.

The Dublin Opinion blog details McEvaddys history and miltitary involvement in his post 'The Omega Men'
Mr. McEvaddy’s military business interests have not been picked up by the Irish mainstream media. As such, we reproduce below the Dow Jones Newswire article that discusses Omega Air, and its plans to be the biggest supplier of civilian aircraft to the American military. But first, a small part to highlight what I believe to be the greatest conflict of interest between Omega Airs business plans, and the future military use of Knock airport.

They then issued a clarification and an oxymorom or two

http://www.castlebar.ie/General/Clarification_re_US_Tra...shtml
Ireland West Airport Knock would like to state that its current priorities are to create medium and long haul passenger flight services, including transatlantic services, for people in the region and for tourists from the United States .

The Airport Board will only ever consider facilitating military flights on humanitarian and ethical grounds. The Airport firmly believes that any military operation that does not have the support of both the Irish Government and the United Nations is not compatible with the mission and aims of the Airport which were agreed by the Board in 2005.

of course if they mission subsequently approved by the UN then they can rewrite history and claim the planes that landed before during the build up for the invasions were legal too.

not without appeasing McEvaddy
http://www.castlebar.ie/General/Military_Flights_from_K...shtml
Finally, the Board wishes to reinforce the sentiments expressed in our recent statement which are that it acknowledges Mr. McEvaddy’s wealth of experience and integrity in the aviation and business world. Such qualities are, and will be, of tremendous value to the Airport in its future development.

The new board members

which includes Right Reverend Monsignor Joseph Quinn and we all know the Catholic Church supports the GWOT and will justify any acts if means fighting he commies or the mullahs in supposed defence of its religion.

Meanwhile the European Parliament committee on involvement in rendition meeting on the 23rd January to consider their draft report.

Manfred Novack special raporture for torture to the UN again said this week that "These diplomatic assurances are a clear attempt to circumvent the absolute prevention of refoulement."

Ireland West Airport says a clear ‘no’ to US military flights

Jim Mcdaid TD pump for bloodmoney and attention
http://www.nwipp-newspapers.com/dn/free/301606043684671.php

A defiant Dr James McDaid TD this week defended his view that Carrickfinn airport could be used for US planes carrying soldiers to Iraq.
However, Dr McDaid stood by his controversial remarks.

"The Americans and Russians have been using Shannon Airport for years. Where would we be without the Americans. We would have been run over by Hitler in World War Two were it not for the Americans. I have no problems with America trying to overcome extremism. Saddam Hussein was responsible for the murder of millions of people. If the Americans wanted to run flights out at the Swilly near Letterkenny I'd support them," he said.

"I have no problem whatsoever with the assistance we give to the United States. Where would we be without America. We are not assisting their war effort - we've always allowed planes to stop in Ireland. The only difference now is that they're carrying soldiers," Dr McDaid added.
