12 Angry Films
Fire Station Artists’ Studios and Docklands Authority commission groundbreaking film project

12 Angry Films is an outdoor season of 12 films examining class consciousness in cinema by artist Jesse Jones. This ‘ Drive In’ movie theatre will take place on the second weekend in November in Pigeon House, Pigeon House Road, Ringsend in Nov 2006.

The objective is to create a collective social space where films both by and about workers are shown, generating debate and reflection on globalisation migration, and the changing nature of the industrial worker.

Over 30 people from diverse backgrounds and nationalities and from the activst community in Ireland came together earlier on this year to examine film, theatre and activism.

Peter Lennon, who made the Rocky Road to Dublin, Joe Higgins Socialist Party TD, who was involved in the Gama dispute helped facilitate discussion. Peter Hussey played an important role introducing us to Augusto Boal's techniques in Theatre of the Oppressed, which did the opposite. Creativity and the collective process underpinned what we were hoping to achieve.
As many of the participants didn't have english as a first language we made our films with language as a parameter. Each film was to be 3 minutes long, shot in a car and not to be in the english language. The limitations focussed our creativity. 6 films were made and will be made available to a wider audience.

Jesse has written more on why present these films in a Drive thru....? It's on the pdf attachment. I hope you have the time and opportunity to read it.
