She was arrested with twelve people and her camera confiscated. She was to be released
on a misdemeanour charge. The photos were lost. Brad was killed working as an indymedia photojournalist.
Three members of APPO are dead tonight and the radio has been cut off.

Meanwhile Mr Bush is constructing a 'Rabbit Proof Fence', some 700 miles long,
along the Mexican Border.

Solidarity with APPO and the people of Oaxaca.

The 700 mile fence being built along the Mexican border is the work of Republican Candidate
Tom Tancredo. The US president signed the deal yesterday;

'Border Protection, Anti-terrorism and Illegal Immigratation Control- he didn't go the whole
hog and deny citizenship to children of illegals but Tancredo really wanted him to.

Bush stated that it was a post-9/11 defence measure, but Tancredo let the immigration cat
outa the bag by stating that it was indeed a measure to prevent the 'Catch and Track' method
of illegal movement from Mexico.

The scheme will see the Military and Local law enforcement enlisted to man this new border.

The 9/11 rationalisation for the Berlin Wall/Palestinian wall method of impoverishing a people
has been rightly questioned by people, who see it as another method of control and elitism.

The situation in Oaxaca tonight is being updated on the sites in the US, including the
nyc/mexican sites. they can be accessed on the left column of this page, under Global IMC.

U.S Embassy, Mexico, press release, Sept 24, 2006.
" Teachers, students and other groups have engaged in increasing violent demonstrations in and around Oaxaca city for several months". Thus the U.S government set the scene for the murder of Brad Will and the attempted taking of Oaxaca by the federales. Democracy Now has some excellent coverage and shows how Brad Will embodied the spirit of Indymedia.

This struggle is going on months, but it only when one of our community dies that we
stand up and fight it. It took the death of one photojournalist to highlight the terrible
wrongs perpetuated on that community by the US sponsored federales.

We are saying words. we should be out there making our voices heard.

Free communication through indymedia and radio universidad is suppressed.
Mexico bought the election from Jeb Bush.

Resist Empire.

RIP Brad Will.

Nine people still being held and 'processed'

This was a peaceful action to highlight the death of Brad Will and the federale put-down of
Oaxaca. The photos are on the nyc link, mentioned on the Thread above and on the global
network. The pictures taken by Siegel are gone, but there are some good shots of the candlelit
vigil on the nyc site.

On october 4th I wrote "This is serious. It is no longer about a corrupt administration or teachers looking for a pay rise. If & when the federal police go in to Oxacoa to restore order, people like us & the sort of people we'd like to think we may be under the right revolutionary circumstances will get hurt.

Some of them will die.
Some of them will get put up against walls & shot.
Others will disappear.

Rest in Peace! but.., I log on this Hallowe'en / Samhain to suggest analysis of the last months in Oaxaca. Commercial media in the "spanish language" reported the circulation of a death list almost a fortnight ago. Yet it was somehow difficult to attract attention of the Irish readership & those who read indymedia's corner in Ireland to Oaxaca's passage from trade union stand-off to city-wide autonomy through vigiliantism through interest to the simple question :-

how do you pronounce Oaxaca?

= what went wrong & what went right?

¿iosaf's "trick or treat".., how do you pronouce "oaxaca"?

Cos you iosaf were the only person to keep on eye on what was going on there of course. (when we've nothing to add we don't write, try it some time).
