If Trump does half of what he's said he'll do on 'Day One', he's going to have a very busy day. It includes pardoning the Jan 6th defendants, slapping 25% tariffs on imported goods and kicking men out of women's sports.

Thousands march to save Tallaght Hospital

category dublin | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Saturday October 14, 2006 18:23author by Jim Report this post to the editors

Thousands of Tallaght residents marched today to save the Childrens Hospital in Tallaght. The march was organised by the Labour Party and supported by the Tallaght Hospital Action Group, SIPTU, the Irish Nurses Organisation, Labour Youth, Sinn Fein and the Socialist Party.

The FF/ PD government is planning to shut the Tallaght Childrens Hospital and move all childrens hospital services into the constituency of Bertie Ahern. There was massive anger amongst local people about this latest government attack on the health services.

It was the largest march in Tallaght in several years..... local FF T.D. Charlie O'Connor turned up to suppor the demonstration as if the proposed closure had nothing to do with him - he was heckled by local residents who he then accussed of trying to intimidate him! Seems raising an issue of concern with your local Fianna Fail T.D. is now called "intimidation"......

The choice of the Mater grounds, as the proposed site for the new National
Children's Hospital and the process which led to its choice
is being investigated.

The issue of not having the required land mass, infrastructure and the process
of buying it, including the price are a source of investigation and of course
impending scandal.

Brings to mind all the other 'land accquisiton' projects of the current regime.

Interested parties in the Mater buying process, which will provide the site for the
new children's hospital may want to scrutinise other land deals in the vicinity.
The Department of justice stands to gain millions from the sale of the Joy
to prospective developers, though the Thornton debacle has held up
that issue. The Thornton accquistion has been audited by the C and AG's
office and is subject to Oireachtas investigation.
Whilst the fat cats are carving up land parcels for whatever future re-zoning
projects, two things emerge.

1.The Children's hospital issue is causing problems for the Tallaght Community.
2. The Prisoners at the Joy are suffering inhumane conditions which have
led to three attempted suicides, One murder, one serious assault and
numerous unreported assaults.

Info on the Mater buying process has been available for some weeks in the
public domain-specifically the 'Sunday Business Post'.

=you are being screwed by the vested interests of the State and the developers
who are unable to cap their greed.

Fair play to all at the demo. A worthy cause. I dont agree with the governments plans on this one. However, I was watching the demo pass after playing a hockey match in St Marks, and amongst the Socialist Party, Labour Party, SIPTU flags, I saw the pile of shit that is the banner of Fine Gael. In the same situation they would do the exact same thing. It becomes clear that Fine Gael would sell their own grandmother for a vote. Labour should refuse to coalese with these bastards

This mustn't be real. The Minister for Health has just handed over the leadership of the (old) Progressive Democrats.

The union Impact is balloting on strike action.

The ballot is set for May.

They no longer feel that adequate patient care can be given.

They have had enough let down by the state which privatises regardless
and ignores the responsibility of the State to the people.

solidarity.

FF/PD should return the Health Service to the people and allow them to care
for their communities- they are selling it bit by bit to investors.

Look at what they are doing to the Crunlin Children's Hospital and ask yourself is this
what they have been mandated to do- corruptly buy and sell a generation of Irish kids
to make a buck.

Support the Health Care Ballot/strikes and walkout!
