RTE "Would You Believe?" documentary "Damien Moran from Seminarian to Anti-War Trial Acquittal"
Sunday Oct 15th. 10.25 pm on RTE a documentary tracing the sojourn of Damien Moran. A young seminarian from Offaly who is arrested at Shannon Airport as part of the Pit Stop Ploughshares disarmament of a U.S. Navy war plane on the eve of the invasion of Iraq www.peaceontrial.com

In 2002, "Would You Believe?" broadcast a doc on Ciaron O'Reilly before the Pit Stop Ploughshares group met or hatched their plan to nonviolently resist Irish involvment in the war on Iraq.
http://www.rte.ie/tv/wouldyoubelieve/24102002/thisweek.html

The doc on Damien Moran promises to be interesting television covering the action at Shannon Airport that sent a war plane back to Texas and four U.S. companies transporting troops to the theatre scurrying from Ireland. Doc covers the historic unanimous acquittal of the Ploughshares group and Damien's return to Shannon for the first time since the action.

It provides an opportunity for reflection on nonviolent direct action as a means of further resistance to ongoing Irish complicity in the war on Iraq. Feel free to post your reflections as comments here.......

1) I feel very strongly about the use of Shannon Airport by the American Army. I have just watched "Would You Believe" and it has rekindled my sense of anger about this issue. Also, I have been through Shannon Airport with my two young children having to explain to them (in their terms) what they have walked into and I didn't like the sound of my own voice. The scene has often been played over in my mind's eye.

I would like to make a statement in some way or help in some way to stop this happening.

I thank you for your courage and good work.

2) saw Damien's 'Would You Believe' last night. Very good. It was a
real stroke of luck that a US transporter was moving through Shannon
as they were filming!
