Four Shell to Sea Actions in Cork, Sat 7th Oct

Shell to Sea activists in shocking incident with giant brown envelope : )

There were four great actions in Cork this Saturday, 7th Oct.
a blockade, two stalls, and an incident involving a giant brown envelope, and the local Fianna Fail office

There was an info stall 12-2pm in Daunt Square, run by Socialist Youth

Earlier, Sinn Feinn blockaded the depot, guards responded quickly, Paddy Wagons arrived, the blockade held and no-one was arrested

At a Shell to Sea Stall between 2 and 4pm, there was huge interest and support from the public, including Nigerian people, US tourists, two Roma women, Dutch environmentalists, and and loads of young peopleThere was opposition to us, too -3 marine engineers who took exception to the idea that the pipeline was unsafe. Brown envelopes were made available to people, so that they could write their opinions of the government, and the Corrib gas project on them. We got a great response!!

At a nearby Fianna Fail office, in the centre of Cork City, brown envelopes from the stall, and others with the Shell logo were taped
all over the front of the building. A woman hidden in giant envelope
with eyeholes, added to the festival atmosphere.

Never mind Shell and Statoil

let's go for the Political REPS that support and promote this disgraceful abuse of power in the interests of foreign corporations.

Shell, Statoil and Marathon must be stopped but we must focus our energies on the political parties and individuals that are facilitating them.

They are lame ducks in the coming months.
