Since 1939 the number of admirals in the Royal Navy has shot up more than four-fold relative to the number of sailors. What do these highly-paid senior officers do all day, asks David Craig. It's more public sector waste.

You seem to be raising two issues here - one is the question of monarchy; the other is religion. You don't like monarchy, but you like Protestants even less, certainly your fulminations on the religious makeup of the British royal family give that clear impression. So would you be happy with a Roman Catholic monarch? (like King James, for instance).
Is it only British monarchs you dislike? What about the royal families of the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Spain and Denmark - an all the rest. Or Princess Grace, an Irish Catholic upstart who lorded over Monaco with her corrupt husband Rainier.
As a socialist republican I oppose both monarchy and sectarianism (of whatever hue). I do not want a monarch in this country and will fight any such move. But I am equally opposed to sectarianism and will fight that too. I will picket a visiting Dutch queen as much as a visiting Brit queen.
You strike me as a Griffithite - a follower of the dual monarchy idea of Arthur Griffith who founded Sinn Féin on those principles originally.
What if Gerry Adams were to be made king? Would you be happy? Not me. A monarch is a monarch - an unelected demagogue who is above the law. A bloodsucking money-sucking leech. Gerry Adams would be equally as objectionable as Mrs. Windsor Saxe-Coborg Gotha Battenburg and her spawn.
Bosco is the only true king of Ireland

Perhaps you were in too much of a hurry to bung off a reply. Maybe you should have read the article first. The author clearly shows that he is against all monarchies. He is clearly not any kind of "Griffithite".
Had a look at that "throneout" site linked to above. Excellent read. I had not realised the extent of the seediness and perversity of the royals, but that site lays it out clearly.
The first European Republican was believe it or not Oliver Cromwell, ending the devine right of Kings, like any great inventor he failed to realize, the Greatness of his invention. Read Antonia Frazers Book Our Chief of Men. The Dutch also were a Republic under the Spanish invasion of the Nederlaands,by the Tyrant Alva. Read Motleys History The Dutch Republic four volumes. The point is that all of these Countries had their Republics stolen away from them, and reverted back to the Fuedal Monachistic Systems. The Republics flame was kept alight by France , and The USA, under the great Republican Thomas Paine, The Rights of Man,One Volume, which was a compression of Jean Jaques Roussea, the Social Contract, along with the help of Voltaires Cogito Ergo Sum. This ran far short of the Church in Rome under the Jesuits, and the Protestants under the guidance of the freemasons, left handed bricklayers, so the school divisions were already in place for division of Sectarianism, it even extended to Football Clubs. The World is witnessing today the introduction of the Madras,s wich will invariably have the same effect Look at Siri Lanka, Ceylon, Iraq, Sunni and Shia. The world needs Republicanism,One does,nt fight for Liberty. one Builds for Liberty, Institution, Constitution, and Democracy for that is what Liberty IS. Flynn O Flynn
Everyone knows that Cromwell was the real founder of Irish Republicanism, and the founder of the armed struggle. Just look what he did to the Loyalists in Drogheda.
Most of the Irish were loyal to the King then, but Cromwell was still a success.

The group known as 'the Levellers", a component of Cromwell's army, mutinied rather than invade and attack Ireland. For their anti-imperial stand they were enslaved and sent to Barbadoes. It is they, and not Cromwell, who can be regarded as forerunners of Irish republicanism. They also had an effect on the constitutional development of the U.S. as many of their principles were incorporated into the U.S Bill of Rights.
If the Republic of Ireland were to rejoin the Commonwealth, Queen Elizabeth would NOT be Ireland's Head of State. The Head of State would be as now, the President of Ireland. The Commonwealth includes 53 independent sovereign states, of which 32 are republics, including India, South Africa and others. The Queen is Head of State of 16 countries, including UK, Canada, Australia and 13 others. The remaining five members have their own monarchs: Malaysia, Tonga, Brunei, Swaziland and Lesotho.
The government of Ireland would be absolutely unchanged if you rejoin the Commonwealth, and Ireland would remain what it has long been: an independent state. Commonwealth membership would no more compromise Ireland's independence than does membership of the United Nations.
Your former President, Mary Robinson, favours Ireland rejoining.
Over the years, five countries have left the Commonwealth: Ireland, South Africa, Pakistan, Fiji and Zimbabwe. Thre of these have since rejoined, leaving only Ireland and Zimbabwe. Ireland, as a UN member, has always made a significant contribution, and would do the same in the Commonwealth. I am an Australian, of mainly Irish descent, and if I may speak as an ordinary citizen, I would welcome with joy the return of Ireland to the Commonwealth.
The only Queen of Ireland I would support is his majesty Senator David Norris, who has done so much good work for the gay community and human rights in general.
Long may he reign Queen of a free Irish Republic and not a closeted British Commonwealth
