Eoin : Just a thorn in the side of the war mongers or further down the anatomy of these bastards, Ireland's Weapon of Ass Destruction ?.

Today, the SWP under the stewardship of Dette McLaughlin, joined forces with IPSC activists and Margaretta Darcy and hubby, John Arden, to protest against the ongoing travails of the Palestinian/Lebanese peoples and the wanton incarceration of Eoin Rice.

For a duration of six hours, the pedestrians in Shop st were leafleted with a fact sheet of atrocities that have/ are happening to the children of the Middle East and a flyer on Ray Dolphins, Irish Centre for Human Rights and IPSC's sponsored, forthcoming, Talk on Israel's abomination; the Apartheid Wall (see link). To boot, some 70 solidarity postcards - to be posted tomorrow to Eoin in Castlerea prison - were completed and signed by concerned members of the public.

The guy Eoin Rice also called the Black Pope and others of the small groupings that are sometimes out there defending the dignity of us as humans must be applauded.
Most of us are unfortunately bamboozled by mainstream journalist’s editorials with state friendly bullshit, with even the O’Reilly factor on Fox TV that is now questioning the contradiction and direction of information or misinformation that seems to be swamping most issues. It should not be to difficult for some of the Irish, especially the persons that tilled the soil with the assistance of the fellow with the long ears to know that the direction the world is heading, is probally going to end in a disaster for all of us all. What we should be asking ourselves, especially after the events of the last month, why there aren’t more humane people like Rice out there demanding a better world for the next generation. We can’t say like some people in history we didn’t know what was going on. The level of education, plus the advances in technology ensures we have access to information, if we know where to look for it, yet when it comes down to it most of us are served by our immediate needs. One thing is certain the downtrodden can take comfort knowing that Rice, alone, is worth more than the millions who couldn’t care less what happens to them. The saying “What use is the opinion of a million people if they know nothing of the subject, or want to know nothing of what is really going on”. They can’t influence anything. The balance can be tweaked and the power of prayer or positive thinking should not be underestimated and no matter what the outcome Rice and his fellow associates can have peace of mind as they did try to change things for the better.

If Rice, a la Allen Ginsburg, is not prepared to let his soul die unholy in the armed madhouse and is not realizing Arthur Rimbaud's prayer; the time we are enamoured of, the time of the New -shabby or otherwise - Jerusalem, where all hearts meet, all wines flow, where war is a ploughshare, then, wha' the fuck is he working towards?.
