The Covid Inquiry is looking at the vaccines, but there are key questions no one is asking, says Nick Hunt. Such as: did Ministers know the approved vaccine was made differently to the trial vaccine and had no safety data?

Irish citizens say " let my parents work , let my parents stay"

A large vibrant and vocal group of Irish born citizens , their parents and supporters gathered outside the Dail today pleading: " Let my parents work , Let my parents stay "

In keeping with the declared sentiments of the Irish Proclamation to `Cherish all the children of the nation equally` Gerry Adams amongst others came to give support to the protesters demands .
Along with Seamus Healy ( independant ) Joe Costello ( Labour ) Arthur Morgan ( Sinn Fein ) and Ciaron Cuff ( Green Party )
He welcomed them and their future valuable contribution to Irish society and expressed the hope that we would not forget our own recent past which saw so many leave Ireland. This sentiment was echoed by all the speakers present.

One mother stated "We are qualified , we have degrees , let us contribute to Irish society, let us work. We have Irish passports why should these children live in refugee camps ? "

"In keeping with the declared sentiments of the Irish Proclamation to `Cherish all the children of the nation equally` "

That statement means no such thing, not in that sense. It was given to mean that all people of various religions be treated equally.

Eric the Red, in whatever sense the statement is looked at the protesters are of different religions and sect.Well maybe because they are blacks they do not deserve to be cherished equally.

It means that all the children of the nation, regardless of race colour or creed shall be equally regarded by the law. Period.

Irish children, whether born to Irish parents, an Irish parent, (or a non-EU foreign parent prior to the legislation which brought into force the provisions of the recent citizenship referendum), are entitled to live in Ireland. However they are only entitled to live in Ireland with such parent or parents who themselves are entitled to reside here.

The family concerned are only entitled to live together as a family unit in such countries or country in which all its members are entitled to reside.

This is also a universal rule of international law which applies to people of every race creed or colour, and effects all children born to parents of different nationality.

If I remember correctly, the mothers of (pre-referendum) Irish-born children were given an amnesty to this rule which allowed them reside in Ireland even though they themselves were illegal aliens - on the condition (which they accepted) that if family reunification was their priority they would exercise it in a country in which the alleged fathers were entitled to reside.

This rule of Irish and international law is not only sensible but also disincentivizes the trafficking of children and bogus claims of parenthood.

I trust this clarifies the position.
