The Physics of Astigmatism

category dublin | anti-capitalism | opinion/analysis author Saturday June 10, 2006 15:50author by Chris Murray - The Unmanageables Report this post to the editors

There are more than five roads to Tara.

Make
Do
and
Mend.

Websters (unabridged ) International Dictionary gives the physics of astigmatism as
" A defect of an optical system(as a Lens or mirror) in consequence of which rays from a
single point of an object fail to meet in a single focal point thus causing the image
of a point to be drawn out into a line and the images of lines having a certain direction
to be less distinct than those of lines transverse to that direction."

A certain group of Unmanageable women met last week and stood in the garden
of a house in Donnybrook. The gap in the wall behind a thriving rose tree accomodated
a portion of one of the five roads to Tara. (A few feet therof). The discussion of focus
and direction in the Tara campaign, naturally ensued and the issues discussed
were of community, stewardship of the landscape and the separate legal/political
issues that are burgeoning.

Midsummer seems to be a point where people will gather at that place.
The local protestors comprise : Save Tara. The Tara Heritage preservation Group
who work tirelessly on the issue of the Planning and Development act 2006
(Strategic Infrastructure Bill) on which they have given seminars in association
with Dr Martin Kaye on citizenship empowerment. They also are in the process
of petitioning the European Courts on the Issue of Stewardship of their Landscape
as well as using their experience to decipher the consultative process with
regard to community action. There is also a legal case in process and a Druid
gathering on the Hill. Each road to Tara, described herein is utilising a separate
and wholly organic approach to the issue, though some would think that one specific route
was the only one to Tara.

The varied gatherings , then on the hill, will provide a conjunction.
be it about protection/ celebration/protest/ reclamation.

One protestor has mapped and plotted a bicycle route to the site and has asked
if others would join him. He is also very interested in the landscape around the
disputed sites and would like to meet and talk to local campaigners about
their approach to the stewarding of Tara.

The Unmanageables would like people to bring their children up there and
have some story-telling and some fun ( though they are not happy about
bringing a global brand into a community campaign).

The local campaigners are all contactable thru their varied sites. (will add these later).
They are Jullita Clancy, Muireann ni Bhrolochain(Save Tara) Martin Dier (THPG).
Prunch Mac Fheargasa (Navan Railway Campaign).

Tara Picnic , (tour and kids day out ). June 21st 2006.

Stigma : Brand or tatoo.
Archaic (to brand with a hot iron) Websters third international dictionary. Unabridged.
all welcome on all roads to Tara. ( leave the Coca cola at home)
