Hacker News "their friends & enemies"

category international | sci-tech | news report author Wednesday May 31, 2006 02:06author by iosaf Report this post to the editors

(1) Gary Mc Kinnon has lost his extradition case & will now be sent to the USA.
A UK court recommended last wednesday that the 40 year old unemployed Gary Mc Kinnon be extradited to face US charges of entering without password in their most secure databases to look for UFO files. that means the anglo-saxon world are the enemies of hackers

(2) the Brazilian minister of Culture, Gilberto Gil, has defended his state's internet law (which is the most tolerant in the world) and hailed hackers and creative users of the new technology at a world Internet conference which opened yesterday in Europe.
this means Brazil is still the hackers' best pal

(1)
Gary Mc Kinnon

his "crime" :-
being clever enough to guess the passwords to enter the databases of several of the USA's security service mainframe computer networks.
(thats harder than using google. its even harder than getting an indymedia ireland privelage)

his "motivation" :-
finding out about the UFO's, EBE's (extra-terrestial biological entities), how the Apollo missions were faked, proving he really is clever.

his "fear" :-
being sent to GITMO.................[ Guantanamo ]
in GITMO no-one hears you scream.
its worse than anything Sigourny Weaver ever imagined.
= support Mr Mc Kinnon. (clever computer people especially if unemployed - need our support)

(or @ least don't allow the USA to give him syphillis, LSD, PCP, Ketamine, an orange jump suit, a koran, two buckets, goggles and white noise)

Gilberto Gil

Gilberto Gil (63 years) a famed musician in Latin America accepted 3 years ago the invitation off President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's invitation to join the cabinet as minister of culture.

He began his speech yesterday at the Global Internet conference thus :-

"I, Gilberto Gil, as minister of culture of Brazil and as a musician, work every day with the impulse of the ethics of hackers," ........... "Hackers are counter-cultural militants who see in the computer a fantastic tool for communication." [He said the Internet allows good hackers] "to create permanent spaces of equality" that give them, as they pursue universal free software, strength against "the reactionary orthodoxy" controlling much of the sector.
"Hackers create innovate, solve problems and voluntarily exercise a mutual help organization,"
which he went on to explain meshes with the founding principles of the Internet.

Gil also said "the technological revolution cannot be justified in and of itself, and must be reflected in benefits for and the well-being of people."

By which he & his government continue to support open software, shareware, gnu, copyleft, & the really clever moral people who trace dodgey holiday-makers to Bangkok & don't leak the UFO stuff to you.
