Saving the V republic
"there are no more pilots left if this one be dropped"
As of 17 minutes the left in France has started her attack with an occupation of Trade Union offices.
This is no game, no mock theatre of young malcontents venting traditional fury. This is the real thing.
Tomorrow France mobilises to join the vanaguard, not only against the latest attempt to impose anglo-saxon capitalist labour market adjustments on their rights, but also to break the hegemony of the now failed Chirac regime.
57% of the French polled by Le Monde want the law scrapped.
71% of the French polled by Le Monde believe Chirac has further radicalised discontent by his televised appearances in support of his dauphin Dominque de Villepin. We have all come very far in our local and trans-national struggles, and now it is time to reflect on one thing we have learnt :-
you've run out crew , mr Chirac The regimes of Europe's traditional industrial (&/or) imperialist states believe themselves to be "natural governments", alone capable of ruling their peoples in the flux of changing values, conditions and responsibilities at the cusp of the XXI century. They are supported in this belief by the magnates of commercial media who in their turn manipulate and shape public opinion and thus fix elections. It is time to realise, that saying no to Chirac is not the same as saying yes to Francois Holland. As before saying No to Aznar did not mean saying yes to Zapatero. As saying No to Berlusconi is not the same as saying yes to Prodi. But saying NO! to the "leadership class" of the global meritocracy (alone tolerated and sponsored by the real powerbrokers - the multi-national-corporations) is essential. We ought no longer entertain the idea :- "no one else can do the job badly" nor that the diversity of the left is a weakness or demonstrates no culture of good governance.
We may no longer allow the power of commerical media to push the idea that the opposition offered to Berlusconi, Blair, Chirac is too weak to win. That was the notion presented during Aznar's regime. It is and was a lie. Even if weak regimes are elected, the mould will be broken, and we will move out the shadow of perpetual neo liberal globalisation corporative rule by proxy puppet
Traditionally when government of France reaches a certain point of crises, the President drops the prime minister. Thus Chirac dropped Raffarin "the stout" for De Villepin "the lean". Buty this time he has no cards left to play. Tomorrow thus sees France decided the strategy and tactics of its future...
Can Chirac consider replacing De Villepin with Sarkosy? Could he dare take the desk of the elysee and face the cameras yet again addressing "his fellow citizens of the republic and metropole and overseas departments" to usher in the unacceptable? No he can't. The moment Chirac gave the poisioned chalice of saving a failed regime to De Villepin (an unelected politician from the traditional ruling class of graduates of the Ecole Nationale d'Administration ) he entered the endgame of a monumental ideological struggle.
Chirac was in his turn a "great leader" but we have passed the age of great leadership . We are now in the age of setting and making positive examples of what the Republic means. The last year of France's history has offered no such examples.

with a certain irony the illustration is the cartoon pubished on the 29th of March 1890 in "Punch" magazine, which saw the reaction to Bismarck's dismissal by Kaiser Billy 2 of the German empire drawn by John Tenniel (1820-1914) who was a bitter and sour old imperialist stereotyper.

This Banana "Republic" hasnt exactly been free economically either with its Neo-Colonial set up. The attack on Public Sector workers by Rabbitte shows that he is little different from that French git. There could be trouble ahead.
Iosaf, you truly write in the style of my old friend Myles na gCopaleen. Long may you ramble. See you at the Moonbase tonight. Jim Morrison and the Big Bopper will there along with Marilyn and Judge Crater.
The solidarity between a broad spectrum of French society is only unified on the basis of their opposition to these new labour laws - I predict that the Chirac government will be forced to back down - the anger will remain among the most radical groups who want to see the system fundementally altered in France but will evaporate among those who have a stake merely in ensuring these laws are not successfully implemented - just because they are angery over these labour laws its does not necessarily follow that they want a new Revolution - in fact if Chirac and co backed down and were forced to conceed perhaps in the long run they might regain their political support after what might prove to be a "quirk" - they wont be stupid enough to try the same program again but they will remain in power perhaps with a new mandate - to be seen to be protecting French jobs would certainly a wise political move for the Chiracists.
2 things.
updates.
* Sarkozy is positioning in right wing media to succeed De V if the usual dropping the pilot happens.
*our protesters are doing more interesting things than the bylerussians. watch their indymedia.
& I admit to getting a wee bit excited by them. Last night I called an old friend who was engaged in doctoral thesis studies during the general strike in the Spanish state of 2003. Her grandparents lived in the mining north of Austurias and Cantabria, and never got the chance to strike. Every time they even grumbled they were shot at. They weren't even offered the opportunity to read and write much. Their grand-daughter is now an academic and specialist in their struggle. I remember so well how we ran along the streets of Barcelona in 2003 shouting at the few remaining shops to close passing out the CNT paper, and how with certain shame the only businesses not to close that day were 2 "irish bars".
it proved a watershed, the next day Aznar's government did its best to hide the stoppage and underestimate the participation. When he finally "went away" (as far as it seems he may go in this life) the insult to the media and workers caused that day of official disregard and manipulation of information took pride of place on a list of over 120 "lies" and "misdeeds" played in loop on the local tv of Barcelona.
So being excited I have written to the French to reclaim the republic in the style of mr Chirac's TV speeches :-
Récupérons la République!!!
Mes chers camarades de France, Métropole, d'Outre-mer et de l'étranger, Les événements que nous venons de vivre sont graves.
http://marseille.indymedia.org/news/2006/04/5382.php
http://lille.indymedia.org/article.php3?id_article=4804
and a version which somehow got through without "accents" and well the French do like their accents & consider them to be very important. But at least the Parisiens got the joke and passed comments.
http://paris.indymedia.org/article.php3?id_article=57160
Its ok to get a wee bit excited on ocassion on indymedia spaces. we call it passion
its part of our mission statement. Some day every people will have a general strike. Even the humble and feckless Irish. For every people deserve general strikes, and they are very good for morale.
The real trick is figuring out how to make the general strike last more than one day.
"abajo con trabajo" as we say over here - "down with work"
I had problems uploading the presidential message [ see last comment or http://marseille.indymedia.org/news/2006/04/5382.php
http://lille.indymedia.org/article.php3?id_article=4804 ]
to Grenoble imc, but one local has suggested that everyone there write to the Elysee and get Mr President on telly for another session of Hola Presidente!
& thats what horizontal media is all about.
Now, its a beautiful day in France, the metropole, the ultra mer, (its always beautiful in the ultra mer for thats where Europe launches her spacecraft from and the social climbers get to go the moonbase.) But its not a beautiful day today because of the weather, no, not a bit of it, its a beautiful day because history has been made {you'll note I'm always floating around in the background when history is made}
The French trade unions and Left have united in action and purpose, of course they are very very diverse. That is our strength on the left, and for too long it has been seen by ourselves and exploited by our enemies as a "perceptual weakness". & today's actions are acknowledged by the right wing press in France to have broken the post war record of syndicalist activity . Not since the creation of the 5th French Republic has there been such an enduring assault on the meritocracy. I'd ask leftists in Ireland to reflect on this. We do not need as is often suggested "one single united party" of the left. We simply need to recognise that we attract different sectors and traditions to our interpretations of current reality, of realpolitik and enjoy and reap the same benefits of our action. So you all have the hymn sheet. Practise. You will be very surprised at the harmony that will be heard when we sing our slightly different songs without the Tuba of the greedy rightists.
This year you may change the regime which has governed "Ireland" badly for all its "sovreign" history. & to do so, you must accept that the parties of the right - FF, FG and PD are different interpretations of the same arrogance & complacency.
Not a single one of them can write an alexandrine without effort and place it before a combined readership of peers numbered in millions and get a giggle. & remember that i pointed out that though De Villepin can write such things, the French don't really need that sort of person in the driving seat. http://indymedia.ie/article/74930 & if any member of the Irish establishment can do such things, not a one of them may also mix a decent trance session, mend a pair of boots, run away from a cop, and survive in precarity.
= Expose them for the mediocrities they truly are.
Comment openly on their lives of complacent privelage and cowardice.
You need a general strike. I believe you have many reasons for one. In the meantime, practise your solidarity by shouting "bong boing" at the Dail at 6pm to stop the angelus. Serious and mediocre politicians get to eat "Antoine Carambe" suppers, but they dare not risk making a joke. That is the trapdoor their regimes stand upon. I began to write long ago, that what galls me, is the attempt to talk about "Europe" by Ahern, Chirac, Blair, Berlusconi, &c.., as if they understood what or who europeans are or more importantly _were_ in the lead-up to the EU constitution vote.
This is our continent. We are the europeans. & we do not accept any more erosion of our democratic rights, liberties, social securities and expectations, education, pensions, housing, in the name of a "US, UK, anglo-saxon neo-liberal neo-conservative mediocre globalisation".
@ .:. + * = ($/€)
enjoy your non-banking days.
at shortly after midnight central european time, I'm not really keen to add any substantial updates.
i've said it all ( in the usual "can you see the brushstrokes?" way ) at this comments :-
http://indymedia.ie/article/70054&comment_limit=0&conde...44691
and as the right wing press in France have decided to lead tomorrow's editions with the death of Denis Donaldson who you might remember, for the "wrong reasons" tomorrow morning instead of the most historic general strike of their republic's history which has seen at least 3 million people not only stop work but march as well -- -
I see the repeat of exactly the same error that the Aznar regime made in its hubris. Of course hubris is such a sly agent of the divine powers that you don't really see her when she comes.
so being a clever clogs, I'll ping "green bottles". Always worth a read the "green bottles" article, its not really about Donaldson at all, you know, its about "parlour games".
http://indymedia.ie/article/73495 Of course that article bears the author title "Rt. Hon. Dr. O' as if" -
if you really want to know if I'm entitled to that sort of thing, you'd have to find my CV. & best of luck to you!!
Indications are from the Elysee, [and the Elysee is an embattled place at the moment], that a "united front" is being presented with both De Villepin "the dauphin to the noble" and Sarkosy ("the preferable to Le Pen") insisting that the CPE crises is not the end of their regime, and really could be overcome very quickly if only the Left of France and Europe ( & the Left of France now count on complete strategic, ideological, tactical, intellectual, analytic, humourous and macro-political support of Europe's left) would stop whining on about :-
social welfare, pensions, health care, housing, precarity, penury, poverty, insecurity, police brutality, media manipulation, racism, eltism .
Whine away!
it puts the wind up them.
It is such a pity that so many people (with jobs) will go back to work tomorrow being :-
((( the bottom line )))
servants
500 arrests.
tweeters on Paris stock exchange.
Trade unions plan next mobilisation.
@ continues regardless.
As of 30 minutes Bretagne (Brittany), Poitiers and Toulouse reported to be closed to traffic and transport by passionate young people who enjoyed their general strike yesterday and are carrying on with it. They don't like the CRS (police) much either, and well would you???? SO thats why they've set up barricades on these "arteries" of France. & jolly good luck to them. This is the real thing.
No one wants to be the bottom line :-
servants
plain clothes CRS agents use telescopic batons to beat youth. 4/4/06

Now lets see if De V will resign, and the Social pact be revived.
Exactly 1 year ago during the "month of germinal year 217"** the C.P.E. (a capitalist spawned attack on education) was dropped amidst unprecedented mobilisations. It seemed young people (of the really young variety who haven't learnt their catechism, how to clean their fingernails of cryptosporidium, how to roll a joint, how to comfort an ex-girl or boy friend without getting physical, how to grin & bear it..... you know the ones..... the 18-22 years of age group)
might prove useful to preserving a rights & citizen based vision of Europe's future.
Yeah bollox.
The French Presidential race began officially yesterday, there are 12 candidates & it seems the person doing the best in the polls with voters of all ages is Le Pen followed by Sarkozy. There will be a first go on the 22nd of April - and then a "run-off" between the 2 remaining candidates.
I presume you know the name of the 2 main candidates.
Segolene Royal is the socialist-centre-left hopeful who will represent Europe opposite the US president Hilary Clinton and leader of Congress Mrs Pelosi. It's great to see women get ahead & may some of us men reflect it's all due to the invention of the bra and the lessening popularity of the moustache. If the western democracies elect women to their tippy toppy positions in the next years I predict confidently that HMG will change gender. Women are thus making the abdication of Mrs Windsor a certainty.
Segolene Royal is of course very nice looking which is the first thing people say about her. But some are critical : her brother was on the team of "french sas" who blew up the Greenpeace boat Rainbow Warrior.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%A9gol%C3%A8ne_Royal
Nicolas Sarkozy is the right-wing candidate who has been bleating on about paedophiles being "born that way" (caused by genetics) in the last week. He is one of the most evil people to have been born in the 1950's. Right up there with our own Michael Mc Dowell.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicolas_Sarkozy
Le Pen is exactly the same as Sarkozy but doesn't look as evil. Mr Le Pen has finally opted for running on the "no darkies" ticket, which would make him a great person to sit opposite President Obama of the USA at the G8. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Marie_LePen
& then there's Francois Bayrou - the "middle way chap" who is centre-centre-centre and getting lots of column space in the French state which as you remember stretches from St Pierre et Miquelon off the coast of Canada to other bits in the Indian Ocean as well as all those bits you know are French which you learnt about in school & are found in France.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fran%C3%A7ois_Bayrou
the other candidates should be of interest to the casual reader of indymedia ireland because they are raving dissident lefties without a hope of getting more than 5% of the vote. Your sort of people.
Their names are :-
* Olivier Besancenot. nice looking lad - bit on the young side (33rd birthday this week) Mr Besancenot is a Troskyist. He has chosen a "ruralist" ticket which will appeal to all Trotskyist voters who have never been to Paris nor wouldn't go either. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olivier_Besancenot
* Marie-George Buffet is a Marxist Leninist. She's 58 years of age as just as nice-looking as Segolene Royal in a lower income working class sort of way.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie-George_Buffet
* Dominique Voynet is an anaesthetist who though born in the 1950's is not truly evil. She's a greenie & thus running on a greenie ticket seeking votes from Greenies who aren't voting for "no darkies" or "trotskyist revolution". In my opinion she's not that nice-looking but takes a good retouched photo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominique_Voynet
* Philippe de Villiers is running on the insane ticket, seeking votes from all people who don't like the EU because it ended the death penalty. Insanity is a family thing with the de Villiers as one would expect if one knew that "de" is a petty noblesque addition to your surname just like "von", "van" or "mac"..............yes it is............everyone in Barcelona thinks it is. Some years ago de Villiers son raped his other son a crime which just came before the courts in 2006. I can't speculate whether such fraternal rape was an instance of "paedophilia" in which case Sarkozy would want to sterilise P de Villiers (& all his voters) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippe_de_Villiers
* Frédéric Nihous is really an odd candidate, neither fish nor foul - the man like Besancenot is running on a "never been to Paris" ticket hoping to bring the "the Hunting, Fishing, Nature & Tradition party" to the Elysee palace and thus the G8. He likes guns. http://www.nihous2007.fr/
* Arlette Laguiller is naturally going to punt this year's presidentials on behalf of the Trostkyist "Workers Struggle" party. She does this every year and is more trustworthy than nice-looking in a relaxed just got out of the sauna way without the ruddy cheeks. She used to be an anarchist as teenager (after rebelling like many other key anarchists before her from Roman Catholicism) but gave up Anarchism for Trotskyism so as to get something done.... Fair play to her. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arlette_Laguiller
* Jose Bove is really the only moustachio'ed candidate. He is an "other world is possible" head who fights fervently all over the world for a return to moustaches and organic food dripping in cryptosporidiums. I've seem him speak a few times at those international forum things and have always been quite entranced by his moustache - it's a great droopy affair which teases the viewer with the hope that it may become unstuck and drop off. Jose was the last of the candidates to collect the requisite 500 nominations for French presidentials. As a forum-goer he's a bit SWP'ish & naturally as dour & humourless as dishwater - but as a farmer he shows no inhibition with going to Paris - appears to be anti-gun & has been to jail. I believe only people who have been arrested and detained for their political beliefs or activity ought be allowed contest jobs like the Presidency of France.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Bov%C3%A9
Gerard Schivardi is another Trot - who wants France to leave the EU as a mistake or cul de sac which rather than guarantee rights & liberties for the future generation has instead made them more insecure than ever. He is also the mayor of Mailhac in Aude and a mason.... of both kinds - the real hands on carving stone thing and the real hands off remembering codes and keeping secret thing. Though a raving leftie loonie and one of those cute "PT" (workers' party) heads who has a "pseudonom" I sort of like him & know him to be a good teacher having met one of his students in Sardinia a few years back. He may not destroy the EU this time (gets over 2.3% ov the votes & I'll buy you a crossaint) but at least he has ensured the art of preserving ancient buildings has been preserved.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%A9rard_Schivardi
I don't feel I will need to update you on who wins. But one last ping of the call to defend the values of the 5th republic I wrote in French in the style of Chirac one year ago.
http://marseille.indymedia.org/news/2006/04/5382.php
** let us note it is April not the month of Germinal. It is common era 2007 not year of revolution 218.
& it appears most kids or adults don't know why we still have Roman or Christian dates.
Since the French invention the "bra" became popular in the late 19th century - no French president has got their tits out.
france needs sarkozy to drag the country and it's economy into 21st century. The problem with the right-wing in France is that it's not right-wing enough.
a man who has spent the week gurgling just above the level of determinist pond-life which we were supposed to deal with about 250 years ago? He has reiterated his belief that young French people suicide because of a "genetic flaw". He has declared paedophilia to also be genetic.
I don't think I have to explain the flaws of "determinism" to you. After all Sarko didn't get to that level. But do you think young Irish people suicide because they've dodgey genes? Do you think someone rapes a 3 year old because "they can't help it" and it is programmed into their behaviour by some quirk of either God's plan or random chance? How will you go about implementing social or criminal policy for the 21st century based on that? Are we to throw billions of euros at the search for a "suicide or tanathos gene" likewise "the pederast gene"? We didn't find the "gay gene" - did we? & then what???? list all the individuals carrying those genes? keep an eye on them? sterilise them?
Many people do not realise what a very serious & profound crises we are facing in Europe. Neither I nor my colleagues at any level can spoon feed you. Read the article above - just the article & reflect on the points I made on "leadership" and how splendidly good looking Segolene the girlfriend of Hollande is running against a man who wants to ignore suicide as something beyond the reach of the Elysee "for the moment" & they ("these leaders") all went to the best school for political elites on the continent outside Eton.
at this comment you may read profiles of all 12 candidates :-
http://indymedia.ie/article/75208&comment_limit=0&conde...89597
no genuine updates except Le Pen is massaging his "no darkies" vote by pointing out Sarko has a few melanin genes above the French average. Schivardi is appealing that voters see the game for what it is - & tactically vote now - for the second round - which if he doesn't get to - he will not himself vote in. That's the sort of nod in the direction of anarchism and our known stance on abstention I needed. Schivardi is now my mate. If you have to vote and have a vote - vote for him.
récouperons la république .:. liberté fraternité egalité
http://indymedia.ie/article/75208&comment_limit=0&conde...89597
He wants to introduce legislation to prevent independent news-gathering, this was
in a Global news-service within the last month. This means no camera digital/film/mobile
phones at protests.
This means no independence witness accounts of situations where the only
'reliable' information will be from the state news-services.
won't go into the repercussions of this appalling vista.
I bet the lads have never even got that far in their pondering of what qualifies a woman to be Ireland's first citizen.
French media is having fun with Le Pen's suggestion that Sarkozy is not French enough to be their President as well as his jibe at the melanin gene thing. Of course many of you might haven't read the profiles of the 12 candidates at the comment above http://indymedia.ie/article/75208&comment_limit=0&conde...89597 and thus don't appreciate that Segolene Royal (the centre left socialist candidate) was born in Senegal. Of course today Senegal is independent and does a nifty sex tourist economy thing with European women who like tall boys with melanin. Segolene Royal's boyfriend Francois Hollande was last year (when this article was originally written) the centre left Socialist party of France choice to be President & get his finger on their nuke button. But he wasn't good enough for the French voters not that he cares he lives with a Senegalese woman who everyone thinks is very nice looking .
Anyway - Hollande keen not to lose sight on the centre left Socialists object of a Blairite/Brownite/Clintonite third way regime has responded to my candidate's (Schiavardi) call for sensible and wise voting and abstention. He's reported today as appealing for leftie voters to do so tactically. Oh yep. We're @ "tactics" now..,
Just to wrap it up and make it easy to understand for Irish people - Sarkozy isn't losing sight on the rightwing objective of a Thatcherite/Reaganite/Bushite free market shake-up. You'd swear the 2 things were the same wouldn't you? Thatcher & Blair : Clinton & Bush.
Well, if you swear that you're getting there. My work is almost done. I have attached an illustration of the 12 candidates for President of France a job which requires very little thinking power, a stomach capable of many years of Antoine Carame cuisine (put him through the search engine and familiarise yourself with my work) without losing the ability to eat an anglo-saxon or celtic dinner of Mrs Beeton meets Smoked Salmon. This flexibility of palatte though is beyond many of us. It's the money our parents had at the supermarket.... it shapes your political future. (ask Feargal Quinn). But all French politicians know their grub - we could be really ironic now and insist they elect Marie-George Buffet even though she is a marxist leninist.
They are now (on telly and in their newspapers and blogs and political chat forum things) talking about TERRORISM. Great, very reliable - (well it was till we broke its spell) but the Al Q bombing of Algeria has helped them all concentrate. wonderful.
Please note that none of the 12 candidates are black, asian or aboriginal polynesian.
The 12 candidates for the Presidency of France. Learn to Recognise them. They are not all your friends.
Francoise Bayrou (centre centre centre) appeals to people with the obesity gene who don't like how extreme Segolene Royal or Nik Sarko are.
Olivier Besancenot (33 years of age a young enough Trot to still believe in the proletariat) uses moisturiser.
Jose Bove (the moustache) you've seen a poster.
Marie George Buffet (marxist - leninist) lovely looking woman.
Arlette Laguiller (workers' struggle) used to be catholic, then anarchist now a mature Trot bit confused she used to be the only Trot interested in the candidate thing.
Jean Mary Le Pen (no darkies party) sucks his teeth.
Fred Nihous (like guns) meticulous about his goatee.
Segolene Royal (3rd way party) has an ugly boyfriend who used to be candidate.
Nik Sarko (National Front party) favours nature not nurture.
Gerard Schivardi (workers party) stickie brickie Trot & my mate of all the candidates the one you'd want on your side in a fight.
Phillipe de Villiers (inbred toff party) wants to be left alone.
Dominique Voynet (non violent nor electable green party) doesn't take a good photo.
Their ipsiphi profile may be read at the comment above
http://indymedia.ie/article/75208&comment_limit=0&conde...89597
Their wikipedia profile in English may be read here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_presidential_electi...dates It's an utterly woefully presented typically Aristotlean seperation between "leading" and "other" candidates. Woeful Wikipedia. They're all brill candidates. Little leaders every one - just like you.
Don't forget I warned ye all. You're brill little leaders. No Pasaran!
Now let's find an underclass we can pitch our revolution to.
The "sans papiers" (or migrant worker) assemblies entered the election process today Friday 13th with occupations of an EDF (electricity provider) office in the 11th arrondisement of Paris and then later the campaign HQ of "centre centre centre" candidate Bayrou. First off the wicket to applaud and support their call for immediate regularisation of all migrant workers were Jose Bove (moustache party) and Becancourt (young enough trot to believe in the proletariat) & of course the Greens whose Dominique Voynet (doesn't take a good photo) always support the migrants in their struggle and especially the "Collective neuf" http://9emecollectif.net/ even if things do get a bit violent & you know - photos get taken.
Segolene Royale spent the day touring her childhood home in France, proper French France with no independence claims being made on it - the Senagelese born presidential hopeful showed that real French politics has nothing to do with sunbeds. Her ugly boyfriend Francois Holland rejected suggestions by an ex-prime minister Michel Rocard (old socialist party before it became the 3rd way party) to adopt a novel "third way" strategy and announce an alliance with "centre centre centre" candidate Bayrou.
National Front hopeful Nicolas Sarkozy went in search of poor people today and a photo opportunity looking perplexed next to people who highlight his sallow rather than properly darkie complexion. Accordingly he brought the suffering journalists of France's commercial media out to the periphery of the city. It has not been reported if they drove their own cars to see him stand next to Karim Zéribi who is president of the "parliament of the sink estates" a nobel institute akin to the assembly of Bradford. But it is reported that mr Zeribi made him wait an hour and thirty five minutes before giving him the photo. This is all of course related to the word "racaille". Readers will remember Sarkozy used the old fashioned term approximating to our own "scumbags" to describe poor people especially those whose kids went burning the sink estates in 2004. It has since been turned around by the migrant campaigns. nous sommes tout des racailles = we're all scumbags
& we are too - don't forget it. http://indymedia.ie/article/74930#comment142924
True to form, & do remember Sarko didn't just go looking for a photo-op today - he's looking for votes- & well, not many people who live there are ever going to vote for him..... so there was a ratio of 3 cops to each 10 others. Hmmmmmm. maybe the carpark was safe after all.
Stickie Brickie candidate G. Shiavardi is still whinging about not being allowed send out his electioneering pamphlets after a right wing legal challenge ruled his self-description as "candidate of the mayors" was unconstitutional. He's also getting a bit touchy about being called a Trotskyist now as well, being quoted as saying even though most of his friends are workers party he has never really one. I'm beginning to doubt he has the stamina.
"no darkies" candidate Le Pen has spent the day offering phlegm on the "terrorist threat" warning that France is on a powder keg. Apparantly according to the grand old man what happened in NYC and Washington on the 11th of September 2001 and Madrid on the 11th of March 2004 and London on the 7th of July 2005 could happen in Paris. I really am amazed how people still talk about these three events as if they were the work of one and the same entities or how little progress they make in concocting alternative versions. I just say that because the M11 trial has just got past establishing in court that 2 hours after I told you it wasn't ETA on this website the whole state apparatus stopped thinking it was - - - even though they went on telling your embassy, your TV and the world it was. & this week I've still seen those poor paranoid types on the street protesting for "the truth"...."tell us who did it!". OH well, I suppose I'll leave off trying to get sense out of the sucking teeth generation. But they (NYC, Casablanca, Madrid, London, Algeria etc) were not all one and the same. Only the lazy would fall for that. But lazy people vote. & since many lazy people also carry the obesity gene (whose discovery in Oxford was published this week with the surprise finding that about 40% of Britons carry such a gene) I suppose Mr "centre centre centre" Bayrou of the UDF party (its proper grown up name) who were formed of course to get Valery Giscard d'Estaing into the Elysee. I told you about Giscard during our campaign to stop the EU constitution http://indymedia.ie/article/68685 coz he was the man who wrote it & I was the man who told you where it got it wrong. Course other people did too. But they didn't get all the wrong bits. But thankfully I know the French don't need me as their president (told you as much in the "Sunday Papers alexandrine edition" http://indymedia.ie/article/74930 which deals with De Villepin and the crises in the 5th republic) so that's why I resisted the temptation to fake a French birth cert and contest the job of 23rd president of France myself. Not that I would. I never really got out of bed early enough for these high-powered jobs - but come the sinister shadowy night of hooded figures in the candlelight and machinations I'm on top form...... horses for courses
So today's ipsiphi hot tip winner is 33 year old Trot Mr Besancenot. an interview he gave to Liberation today (which if you check our archives was saved from extinction by my mate Rothschild & now is forced to pay a humongous fine for libel and defamation after calling a well known nazi just that - a nazi. 33yr old Trot Besancenot touches upon this case in his interview. Well done Lad. More politics and less mousturiser!

Will the 5th republic under its 23rd president of France & save civilisation?
Will 33 year old Besancenot convert his slick trot-union vote into results?
Will Fred Nihous of the "like Guns!" party occupy the Elysee?
Will Le Pen of the "no darkies party" finally accept the coalition suggested last week with Nik Sarkozy of the "national front party"?
Will Bayrou (centre centre center party" finally accept the coalition suggested last week with Segolene Royal of the "3rd way party"?
Will Sticky Bricky Schiavardi see his new non-workers & not really a trot "party of the mayors" which he suggested on Monday punt the 24th presidential elections and will he be allowed use his half million electoral pamphlets next time?
Will "inbred toff party" Philipe De Villiers finally be left alone?
Will "bad photo" Greenie Dominique Voynet house a single migrant in less than third world conditions and save the whales?

Will "very nice looking" Marie-George Buffet gobble the petit-fours and bring the Marxists Leninists back to respectability?
Will "moustache party" Jose Bove introduce compulsory waxing?
These and yet more questions have already been answered. But there will be in honour of the unknown absentionist & heroic non-voter a Sunday Papers special for Sunday 22nd and April 23rd "sant jordi's day - books and roses kill the dragon as usual".
Those of you who fall for this sort of thing - "are you a muslim" : "yes" "i'm going to answer you questions now that I have verified you will answer them not as you really are most days but as you'd like your imam to think you are" : "do you want liberty? equality? fraternity? : sign on the dotted line" will find the latest opinion polls in the wikipedia page on these election primaries linked to up the page with short descriptions of all 12 candidates and their photos. It's been a great campaign. All the candidates did really well. Despite the odds. 11th of the month bombings - over 600 dead in NATO and coalition of the willing war fronts world-wide - 33 dead in VT - the exceptionally good weather. The highest rate of unhappy misfit depressed teenagers in Europe. The emergent obesity. The lingering horrible legacy of having been just "too nice looking" once upon a time.
recuperons la république!

This is of course the worst showing for us abstentionists in history & considering 85% of hte enfranchised vote - we may be facing the remarkable situation of a result with more democratic value than usual. Astounding.
I'm sure you'll be delighted to know Sticky Bricky candidate Gerard Shivardi has lost the poll coming last. exit polls affording him 0.3% of the vote. Well done gerard!
Eager and enthusiastic young enough Trot to believe in the proletariat Besancenot might not have won his 5% target - exit polls put him at only 4.3% but he has undoubtedly led the Trot and Proper Leftie vote. Which exit polls indicate will be around 11% of votes cast.
The far far right "suck your teeth" FN under Le Pen getting roughly the same. And Fred Nihous of the "i like guns!" party got even less than the moustache but more than the mason.
our world is safe.
Exit polls :
SARKOZY Nicolas : 29,6%
ROYAL Ségolène : 25.1%
(they are now going to 2nd round)
where you will if qualified vote Royal and save the Republic.
eliminated :-
BAYROU François : 18,7% centre centre center party.
LE PEN Jean-Marie : 11.5% no darkies party.
BESANCENOT Olivier : 4.3% trots and mousturiser.
DE VILLIERS Philippe : 2.7% inbred toffs.
BUFFET Marie-George : 1.8% marxist leninist.
VOYNET Dominique : 1.7% greenie green.
LAGUILLER Arlette : 1.6% trot.
BOVÉ José : 1.4% moustache.
NIHOUS Frédéric : 1.3% guns.
SCHIVARDI Gérard : 0.3% didn't really want to do it anyway ;-)
what this means.
We have to do more work to persuade people to "not vote". We can't just count on nihilism or disgust at the far right thing. Our "non-vote" showing has been a disaster compared to local elections in the UK (65%) Venezuela (65%) or Columbia (67%). I'd suggest we've got complacent. It'salso obvious that of those who vote - they do so for "far left" and "far right" in equal quantities now returning France and thus Europe to a classical "left" / "right" 2nd round contest.

take it - coz I'm not telling you again - this is my last comment - till you do it.

Nicolas Sarkozy is the right-wing candidate who has been bleating on about paedophiles being "born that way" (caused by genetics) in the last week. He is one of the most evil people to have been born in the 1950's. Right up there with our own Michael Mc Dowell
Well perhaps it is because he has a record of opposing Islamofascism which you seem to support, so that explains your hatred for the man.
But the present President of France has said this:
“Should I remind you the visceral attachment of every Jew to Israel, as a second mother homeland? There is nothing outrageous about it. Every Jew carries within him a fear passed down through generations, and he knows that if one day he will not feel safe in his country, there will always be a place that would welcome him. And this is Israel.” (From the book “La République, les religions, l’espérance”, interviews with Thibaud Collin and Philippe Verdin.)"
This is certainly an important statement and one which I welcome.
Further I am certain that the great majority, like 99 per cent, of Jewish people living in Ireland feels the same way about Israel.
I would say that on this issue, and on the issue of Islam Fascism, this is a very principled man.
That is very instructive and shows that what goes for the Left today are anything but and have betrayed the principles of socialism and have lapsed into following Palestinianism, which is indeed a form of antisemitism.
I am at a loss to explain it except to venture the thought that there may be a return to the glorious traditions of the French Revolution, especially on the issue of secularism and the separation of Church and State.
Sarkozy undermined the secularism which is at the heart of all French republics when he created the "French council of Muslims" (consult this official record http://www.journal-officiel.gouv.fr/association/index.p...F2003
on the 7th of June 2003 and thus gave a semi-institutional voice to the international Muslim Brotherhood who are linked to Salafist terrorists, Islamists of the horn of Africa, all the Sunni's and basically the whole crew (except for Osama). I know I spent a bit of the day trying to get through to Osama on the sat phone throwing money at my local western union office. Then I wound down by listening to Fiddler on the roof and singing along with Tevyl if I were a richman.....la la la la la
Segolene Royal's acceptance of defeat which came more promptly than in any election of such scale or importance this century. She did not challenge the count, appeal for recounts, call foul or refuse to accept the result. She did not run to the supreme court. Our own president Mary McAleese fresh back from fundraising for her party in the USA could thus send a congratulations telegram to Sarkozy quicker than she or her government thought to send one to Prodi, Zapatero, Merckel or GW Bush.
Segolene Royal's nobility must be remarked upon in that simple act of gracious defeat.
All left candidates who had contested the first round supported her directly or asked their voters to vote against Sarkozy with the exception of Gerard Schiavardi the candidate of the "mayors" and mason sticky bricky chap who came last in the polls who called for complete abstention in second round.
I think it is fair to say "We salute Segolene for her nobility in defeat".
There will be a national demonstration against the Thatcherisation of France's economy, culture, labour market, social structures, ethnic balance, social services and foreign policy on the 16th of this month as President-elect Nicolas Sarkozy will take office.
Citizens are asked to assemble at their local mayor's office. "Dress for the occasion". If you don't live in France either its European geographical bits or its oversea departments or space base - you can find a consulate, cultural office or embassy near you. They have the 2nd largest diplomatic service in the world.
