Boycott Coke National Day of Action

category national | worker & community struggles and protests | news report author Wednesday March 08, 2006 16:30author by Boycott Killer Coke - Boycott Coke Campaign Report this post to the editors

As part of a national day of action a boycott coke stall is been run in Trinity College pictured above. The stall is collecting signatures for the removal of coke from the entire TCD campus. It is already boycotted by the Student Union shops following two votes by students in support of the boycott.

Despite the student union being mandated to provide information about the boycott to Trinity Students it is been left to activists to distribute information about the boycott and why it was called.

The stall is also distributing information about the bocyott of coke and nestle as well as badges and stickers. In addition Organic Cola is been sold as an alternative to killer coke.

The boycott coke campaign is organising a stall this Saturday outside the GPO at 12. If you want to get involved in the campaign come along and give a hand.

statement that the TCD SU is mandated to campaign for the removal of coke from the whole TCD campus will be used by opponents in opposing such referenda in other colleges?

Or have ye given up on all the colleges outside Dublin?

If you read the post above we stated that:

"Despite the student union being mandated to provide information about the boycott to Trinity Students it is been left to activists to distribute information about the boycott and why it was called."

The mandate on the student union is to explain why the boycott is in place to its members. A perfectly legitimate and reasonable mandate, ie that the union explain union policy to its members. Nothing more or less.

That looks like a coca-cola can on the table in the first photo. And it looks like it might possibly be two coca-cola cans in the second pic. Something sinsister seems to be going on. Would somebody from the boycott campaign please investigate?

Its fresh, tasty, invigorating Organic Cola. See the adjacent stall in the second picture.

So the can is merely designed to look like something you do not want people to buy. Interesting.

Don't like the sound of Organic Cola - too birkenstock/vegan bridage for me.

Will Trinity stock some good Islamic cola? Yer only man after a hard day's work shouting about unfunny cartoons, listening to Masses McAleese, etc...

Some of us have health issues with sugar so artificial Sweeteners are the lesser of two evils.

Sounds like a good idea, though. Is it widely stocked around Dublin?

I'd say it is, judging by the size of the guy at the table...

This stall is pushing a good cause, as they are asking for, this whole Coke ban campaign should be boycotted

TCD student says "This stall is pushing a good cause, as they are asking for, this whole Coke ban campaign should be boycotted"

So, you're calling the poor folks at the stall pushers and you want the ban campaign to be boycotted, have you worked out which side you're on yet?
