VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Limbo -- the place where the Catholic Church teaches that babies go if they die before being baptized -- may have its days numbered.

Jump To Comment: 1 2it was hacked in the 1970s. Since then no non-christian or non baptized baby is held to go to Limbo, its no longer dogma. They've just been arguing since then about the souls who were previously thought to be there.
Its like this, if they were thought to be in limbo and it didn't exist then where did they go since?
Seems utterly "how many angels on a pin stuff" (a very interesting question btw because it allows angel's physical bodies) [incidently finally settled by JP2 in 2001] {they can have physical bodies} (as big or small they are told) [its upto God how many of them can fit on a pin] But it does have implications for the "pro-life" crew and the proper understanding of Aquinine ensoulment.
Its just like the question on world AIDS day-
"did it matter if Maxamillian Kolby died (martyred himself) in Auschwitz wearing a yellow star or a pink triangle?"
"will the millions of AIDS babies die and go to somewhere better than limbo"?
"will those who tried to give their parents condoms still go to hell?"
I found the above article on limbo to be a very saddening one – knowing a number of couples that have lost children in these circumstances.
I know of the salt that has been rubbed into gaping wounds suffered when a baby is still born and the parents told that their little one is in limbo for ever.
However, having read what the Bible has to say, in an effort to comfort grieving couples I came across a number of helpful and strengthening passages for couples in this unenviable position.
To begin with the Word of God doesn’t change to fit the times.
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
So how can the ‘tail wag the dog’ and say that Limbo will be just forgotten about? – how can a fundamental of any faith be changed just like that? – I thought God gave us His word and we were to obey – not the other way around?
Secondly – King David ( Of Goliath fame) sired a son in an adulterous affair. The baby subsequently fell ill and died shortly after. There is no doubt that despite his behaviour that David was going to Heaven but see what he said about his dead – and unbaptised - son
2 Samuel 12:22 And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell [whether] GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?
2 Samuel 12:23 But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.
Next let’s look at what Jesus Christ said about the little children.
Matthew 18:10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
And who do the angels look after?
Hebrews 1:13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
Hebrews 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
They are sent to tend to those that are heading for Heaven.
So we see from God’s word – not from an institution or organisation – that He would never put little children in Limbo or Hell but that they go straight to Heaven.
That’s what a devastated mother and father need to hear not some made up nonsense about limbo, which by the way is not even mentioned in the Bible. (do a word search and see!)
I do hope an pray that this will be a help to a hurting soul in.
Yours Faithfully
Pastor Mark Bradfield
