You could be an exorcist.

category international | miscellaneous | other press author Friday October 14, 2005 18:20author by manpower adecco randstad Report this post to the editors

About 120 priests and theologians gathered in Rome yesterday to take part in one of the most exciting new innovations of the Ratzinger "black papacy". The return of the Exorcist.

Now like a job in MI6/SIS, languages help, and you probably get more pay than a Metro / Herald AM distributor. & there are certain other requirements. You need to be a priest (licensed minister of public worship Roman Kathurlick style).
the power of Christ compels you.
the power of Christ compels you.

Father Gabriele Amorth, is the Vatican’s chief exorcist and heads a team of 9 clerics in the fight against Satan and his minions in the city of Rome.
He's proud to have "carried out more than 40,000 exorcisms".

& thus he's totally behind Father Paolo Scarafoni who yesterday opened the four month course for aspiring exorcists remarking :- “It is indispensable that every priest knows how to discern between demonic possession and psychological problems.”

the course name is :-
“Exorcism and the Prayer of Liberation” and its being held at the Regina Apostolorum pontifical university in Rome. The organiser Don Scarafoni, warned that very few - perhaps one in ten - of the people said to be possessed by Satan actually were. But he said devil worship groups and occult practices were now so common in society that the services of exorcists were being sought more and more frequently. "Priests are being bombarded," he said.

The Times newspaper in England reports -

"Father Vincenzo Taraborelli, one of the exorcists in Rome, said that the number of exorcisms had more than doubled since he took up his post as a parish priest 15 years ago. “There is always someone sitting in the pews waiting for my help,” he said. Most were aged between 20 and 40 and many were psychologically disturbed. He urged them to see a doctor or psychiatrist, but in other cases he concluded after careful examination that they were “genuinely possessed”.

To be "genuinely possessed" you must :-

a) yell in a strange or incomprehensible tongue.
b) roll your eyes about.
c) suggest unkind things about the mammies.
d) use the F. word. (real F. word)
e) spend a lot of money on heavy metal records.
f) use the C. word.
g) get really fluent with both F. and C. words.
h) be a baptised Kathurlick.
i) be really strong like you're rushing off your nut.
j) discern holy water from the tap variety.

Mindful of these stringent criteria Father Vincenzo Taraborelli reminded journalist :-
“Films about exorcism tend to exaggerate, but the victims really do scream and yell in strange, incomprehensible tongues and roll the whites of their eyes.”

Father Gabriele Nanni, another exorcist, concurred saying he's sure he's dealing with possession :-

“when someone speaks or understands languages they normally do not; when their physical strength is disproportionate to their body size or age; when they are suddenly knowledgeable about occult practices; when they have a physical aversion to sacred things, such as the communion host or prayers”.

a 10 point plan has been given to the students and warns of the need " to recognise and prevent such unholy interests" (symbols) . It included a suggestion to parents to monitor whether their children were wearing strange pendants or T-shirts, if they listen to loud music on their home stereos, or watch too many horror movies."

And having become a household sort of character in the last year for his regular appearances on a national Spanish TV programme which deals with areas of silliness ranging from superstition to how the divil works has also launched a website for those who suspect their family members might be possessed and want something more meaningful than a member of the Catholic Workers to come round and do a complete mockery of RC ritual with the side effect of discrediting social movements and undermining grassroot campaigns
