Gays likened to child molesters by Vatican

category international | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Tuesday October 11, 2005 14:30author by paddy savage - consistent life ethic(inc animals)author email achorusline19 at hotmail dot com Report this post to the editors

more bigotry from the vatican

The vatican is ruling on a ban to stop gay people from becoming priests. It was said that due to the recent explosion of child abuse claims and cases, the fat cats in the vat are making a connection between homosexuals and child abusers.

While they exist, it is as if they are linking us homos, the entire community (globally). This is abbhorent talk just furthers homophobia and hate crimes globally. Fight the powers. For more info on my organisation, email me. There's already a consistent life ethic irish site but its a tad bit confusing: I include animals, she doesn't. Love and peace homo paddy.

The Roman has got a cheek in what they say about the Gay Community. They should be hunted out of Ireland for the years of torment they inflicted againt children in their religious mad institutions in Ireland in the 1940s - 1980s.

It was all over the crappy commercial media last week some time,RTE,It was also mentioned on that bigoted scumbags program:the O'Reilly factor on Fox news.''In a bid to reduce or stop child sex abuse from members of the clergy, the Vatican today proposed a ban to stop gay men becoming priests"Is that enugh of a link for you,are you from some catholic organisation and are aoffended?Im a catholic, but the vatican and the pope are just hierarchy!!

It is interesting the timing of Homo Paddy's article. Just the day before it I heard something on some news programme (I know it all sounds very vague, but it was something I overheard rather than had been paying attention to) and the item said that gay men could join the priesthood as long as they had not had sex within the past three months.

I also remember from my time studying Theology in college that it is not a problem for a priest to be gay (or hetero-sexual for that matter). It is a simple fact of life that we have a sexuality, but that the priest cannot engage in homosexual behaviour (or hetero-sexual for that matter). I think that sounds okay to me. It's good for the goose and its good for the gander.

Roman Catholic has just labeled all priests in the same manner that the Vatican has supposedly done. Irony?

I know many Gay men, priest, etc. Too my knowledge none have abused children but its not advertised in public is it?

The abuse that has come to light is more connected with children being forced into the priesthood.

IN the good aul days of Ireland the clever, brightest son became a doctor, lawyer, etc and the stupid, weird or downright sick son was forced into the priesthood in the hope that it would A, maintain the family pride. B, keep him out of trouble and/or C, Provide an education.

The job description isnt the issue and neither is the sexual orientation. Its the methods of recruitment that caused the church abuse.

I would like some proof that the original article is correct in its claims. Unsupported accusations shouldnt be allowed as a topic.

author by non kathurlickpublication date Thu Oct 13, 2005 13:07author address author phone Report this post to the editors

The topic was briefly discussed at the synod of bishops in the Vatican October 2nd - 4th 2005.
& has been discussed widely at national conference of bishops level, and most profoundly within the plethora of "action/pressure" groups within the "lay Church". These debates are most visible in predominantly catholic countries or states where the church is traditionally well represented in public life. Therefore this debate is getting more attention in South and Central America than in any state of the EU. Any concerted attempt by the church or its members in those states to "play against" the government has repercussions for many areas of policy, social or economic.
So...
* I'd like a source to back up your view that the Vatican is preparing rules to prohibit gay clergy.
* I'd also like a source to confirm that the Vatican has likened homosexuals to paedophiles.

Jesus never said priest should be celebate, neither did he give out laws saying you could'nt receive if you were divorced, man made these laws, well maybe not all men but a few who lived in the vatican.Jesus would'nt put gays in the same category as paedophiles, how dare the church make such a statement! I know quite a few Gay people and I would trust them with my child any day before I would leave my child with a priest!!! after all the most abuse that have been done to kids was at the hands of priests. its time the vatican moved with the times!!

Well he surely wouldnt put someone on deathrow,or drop bombs on peoples heads who have been crippled for years by sanctions, and he sure fucking would not give a damn about two wo/men loving each other, even in an intimate way."Because their is so much hatred in the world,a love between any two people, regardless of gender, can only be a good thing"(quote by john lennon),he might smash through the doors of every corrupt govenment, inc.the Vatican, and open it as places for homeless and hungry people to eat in,and maybe say,"you humans, always twisting my words to justify killing each other, and making me a figure many turn away from because you say you follow my way but most of yous do quite the opposite and make me sound like a neo con, when in fact im a radical jew,and on meeting mr Bush,he might just laugh and say"you aint goin to heaven"lol

Religion has caused alot of suffering and wars and the list goes on,but dont forget their is some selfless outstanding individuals out their, some of faith, some of no faith, who commit their lives to helping and working with the homeless, starving, margianalised of the earth. And theirspeople who claim to be christians, such as dubya, and he ignores the beatitudes laid out,and most bible teaching,if not all, lol. He is a satanist if religious at all,the war mongering corrupt gangster oil baren fucker, and the rest of the politicians.A shining example of true christianity are the Catholic workers, though i remind they dont want glorification. And also not all mainstream Catholics are anti gay,the most i know young and old, couldnt give a shit about people being gay,and agree with marriage for gays, but oppose abortion and capital punishment.

I don't care what the Vatican says about anything, and that goes for all the religions. Misogyney, homophobia, racism, all these terrible things, they can be found in Budddist scriptures, The Koran, The Bible. So big deal, the best way to get rid of religion is ignore it...
