The weekend will take place in Omagh, Co. Tyrone beginning on Friday 21 October and finishing on Sunday 23 October.
From the weekend we hope to once again make Demilitarisation an issue, which the Brits cannot ignore. During the weekend we will discuss and draw up a national Demilitarisation strategy for Ógra.
The West Tyrone ÓSF Demilitarisation Weekend has become an annual event, and this is the fourth in a line of successful weekends.
The weekend in the past has attracted international comrades and Ógra members from all over Ireland who feel strong about Demilitarisation. It has heightened the profile of the Demilitarisation campaign and has played its part in insuring that in August 2006 Omagh Brit Camp will be demilitarised.
The success of these weekends has not gone unnoticed and at 2003’s Demil weekend, West Tyrone ÓSF member Danny Turnbull was arrested by the RUC/PSNI and underwent a 9 month trial for taking pictures at a protest on the Weekend. This was a clear attempt to undermine ÓSF and stunt our growth, but in fact it has done the complete opposite, so this year turn out in numbers to weekend ’05 and show the Brits its time for them to leave!

Jump To Comment: 1I hope the protest turns out to be big. Afterall, British imperialism must stop to allow a democratic handover of our six counties. The army structures are still there, equivalent to the Israeli watchtowers in occupied Palestine.
