Why would the SWP have a speaker at this? The only SWP member in Kerry has a place on the platform for what reason?
Did the SWP organise this?
Are they still maintaing their tired and failed tactics?

>> Did the SWP organise this?
probally had somting to to with it,

Why would the SWP have a speaker at this?
coz they proballly organised the talk

>> The only SWP member in Kerry has a place on the platform for what reason?
i doubt he is the only SWP member in Kerry

>> Are they still maintaing their tired and failed tactics?
dunno, but at least these issues are being raised in Tralee, fair play to them for that.

maybe the reason there is a swp guy on the panel was that FF, FG, PD's et al, are ' maintaing their tired and failed tactics' sitting in front of the fire with their legs up.

It is irrelevant who organised the meeting. Speakers are good cross section of people including Mark Garavan and Martin Ferris who have sound grasp of the issues at stake. Sounds like an interesting evening.

The other speakers are fine, but what the hell do the SWP have a speaker for.
The SWP's membership has slumped dramatically. Tralee is no different. They should not have a speaker. They only get involved in campaigns to take something from it, be it members or paper sales, and never to add to the campaign.

What grasp does Ferris have on the issues? I have seen no evidence - in fact the opposite!

author by Shinn Digpublication date Fri Aug 12, 2005 12:31author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Ferris has been involved in the campaign for quite a while now. He was involved before the men were jailed and before the issue got any publicity. It's a pity Hal that you don't have a grasp on even the basic knowledge of the campaign

i do have a grasp of the campaign - and from what i see it is misguided. I am entitled to an opinion just like you. Mine is that the Rossport 5 and the local community have been hijacked. I think people have started to realise this.

i would safely say that i have a better grasp on the issue that you. Sorry if you dont like that!

author by Shinn Digpublication date Fri Aug 12, 2005 13:09author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Hal you are talking absolute crap. The locals do not believe that the issue has been hijacked and they have carefully and intelligently run the campaign from Rossport. It is the locals who run the campaign in Rossport not any political party. Jerry Crowley the independent TD has even been excluded from their meetings as he is a politician. You see Hal you don't know anything about the campaign, you are entiltled to your opinions and nobody said or even suggested that you aren't. What I am saying is that your opinion is completely ill informed and you are also in complete denial believing you know whats going on, you don't have a clue.

"Mine is that the Rossport 5 and the local community have been hijacked. I think people have started to realise this."

I suggest if you really in your true heart of souls belive this you tell the Gardai Immediately that a local community has been hijacked by persons unknown. It sounds very illegal.

That's the point of the comment really though isn't it. Make something that is just a blunt unsubstantiated assertion into a ball, add a bit of lingo that suggests illegality (hijacked) and trow it in the general direction of mayo and hope (like Goebbels etc) that some of the extremely badly processed bullshit sticks

State anything resembling an objectively verifiable fact that backs up this very shaky dribbly assertion.

You are talking pure nonsense. Ferris has been one of a very few TDs who has pursued this issue consistently since the last election. He has placed dozens of questions, some of which have uncovered crucial information about the scandal that lies behind this. He and other shinners have done trojan work on the campaign, much of it unnoticed because they are not turning everything into press releases. Also the co-operation between shinners, anarchists, socialists, greens and others on this has been exemplary.

support from all sides must be welcomed in order to fight this disgraceful injustice being dished upon an undeserving small backward community in mayo
