It was unanimously decided to raise the price of the report "Cancer Mortality and Morbidity in County Louth" by 100% to €10. It was felt that this would not affect sales and would enable purchasers to show appreciation and respect for Dr Dennis Pringle who carried out the report. The book will increase in price to €12.50 in the New Year.

Commenting on the trip to Kingscourt Handball and Racquet Club made on 19 July 2005, Sean Crudden said, "The Club is one of the seven wonders of the Louth/Meath/Monaghan/Cavan region! It is up there with the Slieve Russell Hotel and The Carlingford Marina."

A few names were discussed who might be approached about the Group’s Winter Workshop which is due to take place on Saturday 28 January 2005. The theme for this the sixth annual winter workshop organised by the Group is "Isolation."

The Treasurer, Sean Crudden, gave a detailed report on the money situation of the Group. Finances are healthy.

In a discussion on conservation and pollution in the Cooley Peninsula the secretary of the Group, Archbishop Michael Desmond (Dessie) Hynes, suggested that the best thing to do was to get a study done. He undertook to write about this to the Open University of which he is a graduate. Other agencies to be canvassed include: The EPA, DkIT, NUI Maynooth, UU. The Archbishop pointed out that there might be connections between the earlier report on cancer and any new report on conservation/pollution.

The next meeting of the Group was fixed for 11 September 2005 commencing with breakfast at 11.00 a.m. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.

The Winter Workshop will take place on Saturday 28 January 2006 beginning at 2.00 p.m. in The Strand, Omeath. Following the pattern of other years a dinner for the participants will commence at 6.00 p.m. As stated in the article above this workshop, if realised, will be the sixth annual winter workshop organised and run by Cooley Environmental and Health Group.

Previous workshops were on the topics: Safety, Energy, Personal Energy, Fabrication Machinery Dundalk and The Environment, Organisation and Health. The theme for the 2006 workshop will be "Isolation." It is hoped to invite a range of speakers from backgrounds as diverse as religion, philosophy, psychiatry, education, nursing, media, community development.

Accommodation for those wishing to attend the workshop who live in distant regions may be booked in The Strand and other places in the Cooley Peninsula - at a reasonable cost. More details about this will be given on indymedia at a date nearer the event.

Is there any chance of getting the CEHG to have breakfast at the Greenore Co-op at a future meeting as we need the money as trade is poor in Greenore. Can you bluff the members into coming to our cafe. Anne will do extra services if required at the all in price of €6.
