bellamy finally stops

category international | environment | news report author Wednesday June 22, 2005 02:30author by triggery - katalyzer Report this post to the editors

2 years too late

perhaps the world's leading climate change denier - stand up and take a bow david bellamy - has finally decided to stop ranting madness .Years of giving succor to the world's worst, this enviro MENTALIST has, at last realised that his data makes as much sense as drinking a chair.

See the monbiot-bellamy debate on http://www.monbiot.com

the most recent one is http://www.monbiot.com/archives/2005/05/10/junk-science/#more-930

and on the actual news of the retractions etc see

First off, I had difficutly believing that Bellamy was dismissive of global warming, but there it was and he made the extradinary claim that 95% of the glaciers were advancing rather than retreating.

In Mobiot article's he does a good job of actually hunting down where the data came from and Bellamy claims they came from the World Glacier Monitoring Service. So Monbiot phoned them and they said his figures (Bellamy's) were completely bogus.

It turns out that Bellamy got them off a website of this global warming denier chap, who appears to have got them from a similiar another climate denier and so onwards through a chain. In the end there was no source and it looks like the figures were simply made up.

It all just goes to show, how it is important to trace back your sources all the way and double check.

A similiar thing has happened in the fluouride is good for your teeth debate. It isn't. If anything it is harmful and poisonius. Go check through the original sources.

Unfotunately the market fundementalists are not just mentalistismo inequality fetishists but are complete fantacists to boot.

The science is firmly on the side of the environmental movement and increasingly people will turn away from the vitualists who believe in infinite economic growth in a finite world,..but maybe only when the real world starts kicking us up the jacksie!
