Belfast Food Not Bombs, & Belfast Grassroots Against the G8 present a Weekend Of Dissent! celebrating local creative & sustainable action in resistance to the G8.

From 6th-8th July 2005, the G8 the rulers of the worlds eight most powerful countries, are holding their major annual summit at Gleneagles Hotel Perthshire, Scotland.

Since 1998 the summits have been resisted by a global alliance of movements opposed to the ecological destruction, war & globalisation of capitalism that the G8 are responsible for. Resistance to the 2005 G8 Summit is being planned by groups & networks from around the UK, Ireland, Europe & Beyond.

Hundreds of people are traveling from Belfast to protest & take action against the G8, from taking part in the Make Poverty History March in Edinburgh, joining the cycle caravan to the G8, blockading the Faslane Nuclear Submarine base, cooking at the Dissent! Convergence space, blockading the G8 & taking action on climate change.

The Belfast Weekend Of Dissent! organised by Belfast Grassroots Against the G8 & Belfast Food Not Bombs will celebrate local resistance to the G8 by showcasing local creative sustainable & fun actions. The weekends kicks off with a critical mass bike demo, & a G8 actions meeting for people going to Scotland on Friday, Food Not Bombs street pic-nic on Saturday, & a Garden Play Day & convergence place planning on Sunday.

Come along get involved in some local action
