Against militar parade in Galicia

On May 29th, the Spanish army is celebrating a parade in the Galician city of Corunna (A Crunha), with full paraphernalia. The local government, the corrupted and controlled Galician government and, in summary, those who "matter", will be welcoming the "glorious" Spanish army into Galicia (Galiza). We, Galicians, consider this action to be a direct insult.

The local government, the corrupted and controlled Galician government and, in summary, those who "matter", will be welcoming the "glorious" Spanish army into Galicia (Galiza). We, Galicians, consider this action to be a direct insult.

For that reason, Galician citizens will be demonstrating on that day and on the days before, but not just in Galicia, also abroad. Namely, a collective of Galician citizens in Ireland will be protesting on Saturday 28th of May in front of the Spanish Embassy in Dublin. And you are cordially invited to join us.

Galicia is one of the nations oppressed by the Spanish state, together with Catalonia and the Basque Country. In fact, our relationship with Spain can be labelled as "colonial". Following the military occupation of our country, and despite numerous attempts to regain independence or even some degree of autonomy through the centuries, our "association" with Spain has not improved much. Our devolved autonomous government is controlled by Madrid, so it is our economy and culture. Political repression and censorship are still the norm in this allegedly "democratic" country. Examples abound.
Galicians were relegated to emigration and the production of cheap primary sources for Spain. Now they are trying to enrol Galician youngsters into their army. That's their solution for us. That's why we consider this military parade to be a blatant affront.

Why didn't you know anything about Galicia? That's easy to explain: Being the first nation colonised by Spain our struggle is old, and has moved through phases. Since the colonisation we've been a poor and country, thus unable to express our own voice in the international arena. Our commitment with pacifism has also made us "unattractive" to modern mass media. Yet, we do exist, we do resist, and you probably know more about Galicia than you though…

Please find below the Manifesto we will be distributing on the day, which is a summarised translation of the one ratified by a number of Galician political parties, political associations, and civic and cultural organisations.

Needless to day, in the tradition of Galician pacifism and hospitality, everybody is welcomed to join us in this protest :)

The demonstration will probably happen around 10:30 or 11 am (to be confirmed) on Sat 28th May. It'll be in front of the Spanish ambassador's residence, between Merrion Rd and Ailesbury Rd. The nearest DART stop is the one at Sydney Parade (300 m from the Embassy).

You have a map here:

We'll confirm further details asap... :)

the annual military parade of Spain was held today in Coruña (A Crunha) Galicia, (Galizia) and as its special theme honoured the Sea and all lost to her (it).
The highpoint for kiddies was a mock storming of the beach with an aerial and naval assault from the aircraft carrier Prince of Austurias. This was followed by a lot of speeches which saw Spanish minister of defense José Bono, say something, and Fraga president of the Galician Xunta (and founder of the PP) say something else about patriotism, and the indivisibility of spain.

The King (supreme commander of the spanish armed forces) quite noticably put his eyes up to heaven during both speeches. All in all a great day was had, and no-one was actually killed. The last time the spanish armed forces staged a mock seaborne assault it was on the Cadaques in Catalonia, a picturesque little town famous for Salvador Dalí's house during the Aznar regime.

The Spanish armed forces offer careers to healthy boys and girls from all over, who can speak castillian and want to further their career options, and will offer them work in places as attractive as Haiti, Afghanistan and that bit which is pretty good for fishing starving africans out of the Atlantic.

He actually contented himself to leave off the speeches and just say "vive españa!" which is sort of nice. it must get boring.

If it would be in my hands, I would build a fence in your beloved regions so that nobody could ever enter Spain again.
It is becuse of people like you that there is terrorism in the world. If you don't want to be part of Spain then get out. The land never belonged just to you, and it will never will.

You feel opressed!!!! Makes me laugh really, you are so ridiculous!

"sick of you and your nationalism"

thats a bit ironic seeing that you seem so proud of being spanish?

if Spain is so great why are there independence movements in Catalonia, the Basque Country, Galizia, Andalusia, the Canary Islands even is Castille itself,

why is the language called Castaellano and no spanish,

Why are there so manu minority languages?

Spain is a product fascism and empire and nothing else
