Listen to Ray speak
hmmm, new word for the day!
→ Precarity
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precarity
http://del.icio.us/tag/precarity
'Precarity is a term used to refer to either intermittent work or, more generally, a confluence of intermittent work and precarious existence. In this latter sense, precarity is a condition of existence without predictability or security, affecting material or psychological welfare.'
I was trying to post the text of the leaflet given out on Saturday - either as a word document or PDF file - here but amn't able to do so, Anyone else able to do so please??? Sorry for my technical incompetence
I'm delighted to see trade union types, the people who've been in their struggle for years and years, taking on the new words and doing it sometimes in new ways. Over here a few days after our mayday, (god my memory it was only yesterday!) the station filled up with train drivers on an action, and they're blowing their whistles and filling up carriages, and not quite in clown costume, but on vibe i could recognise, and one spotted me and went blah de blah precarity!, and i had a CNT and euromayday stickers on my folder, and he had a CCOO megaphone, and so we noticed each other noticing our stickers, & something really really cool happened ...i dunno, its solidarity.
We didn't have that as noticeably a few years ago.
the new class and the old class will work well together me thinks.
just as well, the new class of multi-national-corp bosses work well together too. ;-)
Indymedia.ie doesn't take M$ .doc or PDF files as uploads. You could export from the .doc format to PlainText or RTF and paste that into the comments box.

ORGANISE FOR YOUR RIGHTS
From fast food outlets, to assembly lines, from corner shops to hyper markets there is one common relationship. That is the relationship between boss and worker. These two classes have nothing in common, and a constant struggle is fought between them. Over the years we have won free education, free healthcare, the welfare state, the 5 day week, the 8 hour day and the other rights. It's time we organized to defend these rights and to win more.
