Mc Dowell to plant tricolour in Belfast!

category down | crime and justice | event notice author Saturday April 16, 2005 00:19author by lol - "timing" Report this post to the editors

reclaim michael reclaim. such a pity for you that your words on record isn't it?

Michael Mc Dowell will visit Belfast today, the 18th of April, to hold a meeting with the SDLP, and explore his succesful new slogan which he stole of the spanish anarchists "reclaim the republic".

He will also take advantage of the opportunity to meet with his UK equivalent (for despite his many thousands of words on the NI state it is not his jurisidiction) Mr Paul Murphy.

Mr Mc Dowell, it must be remember likes to talk big, and as time moves on, he's looking chubbier under the chin and losing that mercurial mind which brought him so much admiration at the Irish bar many years ago.

Indeed, the minister might have to field un-unusual questions, on certian "beyond a doubt" statements he rather prejudicely made in the last months.

that is the price of the ordeal, michael.

Mr Mc Dowell is hoping to boost the SDLP's chances in the forthcoming westminster elections.

How exactly he will do that, remains a mystery.

¿does he speak ulster?

¿will he remind the northerners who aren't republicans that they too can like he reclaim the republic and ignore the origin of the slogan and "ahem" the connection of his forebears in fighting to end that particular republic?

the Minister's staunch opposal to SF need not be explored here, he has in the last year seemed to help their increase in votes at the last by election in the Irish state, where indeed his fellow party candidate was dis-qualified and lost her deposit.

Can he do better for the SDLP?
sure it will all come out in the wash.

speeches and sundry other details will be updated in the comment box.

Mc Dowell has been very quiet about theUUP money laundering. Perhaps he is in on it?

Aunty Beeb has reported that SF pressie Gerry Adams has complained that "the Irish are 'interfering' in election".

quite right Gerry. enough Irish meddling in westminster elections.

Aunty Beeb compares the Dublin government attitude with that of the British-
British civil servants and ministers are strictly following a long standing convention known as "election purdah".
According to official guidelines, the principle is that the government should "do everything possible to avoid competition with parliamentary candidates for the attention of the public".
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/vote_2005/northern_ireland/4450033.stm
"purdah" is an ethnic term, as such will probably have to be explained to the minister for justice, and republics, michael mcdowell, coz he doesn't like ethnics.

Oh well, if the FF/PD government feel they can intefere in the NI westminster elections, then I suppose there's no reason why others ought not intefere in their next Dail E election.

Hey, its great news to hear that McDowell is going to canvass for the SDLp in Belfast. Thats a load of extra votes in the bag for Sinn Fein then. What are the SDLP thinking of? Whos running their election campaign - Homer Simpson?

I can just hear the guffaws coming from Connolly House.
And anyway as an adherent of the GFA and someone who supports the removal of articles 2&3, why is he interfering in the internal affairs of the 6 cos ? His governments position is that it is now a foreign country and no longer part of the Irish nation. His interference in another jurisdiction is hypocritical, not to mention utterly daft and counterproductive.

Maybe he's been hiding his radical side all this time. He'll make up for his Grandad's hesistancy and do something daring for the Republic!
