Jump To Comment: 2 1this is a good initiave from the mayors of dublin, im not sure how effective they can be
the guest speakers spoke about the 4 topics in detail and then the floor was opened to comments and questions,
it did get a bit heated when discussions of anti social behaviour, prison and the role of parents came up.
i brought up point of possibly looking at good example from around world where mayors have been effective, i gave example of curitiba in brazil which is possibly the best example of an eco city; the mayor there had to deal with corruption, mafia, high crime but he and his crew made great moves by using creative techniques to engage with all parts of the community
ie- previous unemplowed troublemakers who used to terrorise botanic gardens became employed gardeners there, problems solved
more info on curitiba

i also raised issue of greenway for dublin and supporting platform 11's plan for an integrated rail network for the city, similar to what has been reported here from convergence

it is a good initiave, the more that different groups talk with each other and understand each others struggles the better
how effective we can be and what methods we use is another matter
this is the first of many open forums with the dublin mayors, it would be great to have more participation from this community
