'Eco-anxiety' affects 78% of children under 12, a crisis that teachers say they are unable to cope with, new polling by Greenpeace has found. The solution? More ruthless exposure of children to alarmist material.

Wreath of thorns and flowers

An attonment wreath was placed by peace activists at the entrance to Shannon airport today, Sunday 20 March 2005, for the 100,000 Iraqi people killed in the illegal war and illegal occupation of their country.

100,000 Irish people marched in Dublin on 15th February 2003 just a month before the Iraq War begun. Where are they all now?
100,000 Iraqi people who were alive on that day have died in this war in the meantime.
A wreath of attonment was laid by peace acticists at Shannon airport on Sunday 20 March, the second anniversary of the begining of this ongoing war. It was a wreath of torns and briars, to signify the suffering of the Iraqi people and dead flowerheads of hydrangae were inserted into the wreath to signify those innocent people unlawfully killed by US troops and warplans that passed through Shannon airport.
As the wreath was being laid, an ATA American Transair chartered aircraft with about 200 US heavily armed troops on board landed at Shannon and was refueled before resuming its journey to Iraq. It is estimated that this aircraft was also carrying up to 200 m16 assault rifles, over 100 9mm automatic pistols, and up to 30,000 rounds of ammunition. The passage of these troops, weapons and munitions through a neutral country such as Ireland is contrary to international laws on neutrality, including the Hague Convention.
May the victims of the Iraq war rest in peace and may the perpetrators find justice.

ATA - American Transair troop transporter, stops for tea and sandwiches at Shannon. How many innocent people will these 200 troops kill before they pass back through Shannon airport in about next October?

How many Iraqi's will they kill?
That's anoybodies guess. There's so many ways for Iraqi's to die, the airforce and navy plays a big role too y'know.

Half the troops out there are reservists who'd rather be at home and able to spend time with their families (kinda like the 'commander in chief' can do, far away from the danger zone)

But going on the average casualtie rates,
out of 200 troops on one flight, 2 will be killed in Iraq and 20 will go home permanentely maimed...

It's not just Iraqi and Afghan blood on the hands of the Irish government !

but then again "the debate is over" ain't it Bertie?

The plane landed using call sign Reach 826
It taxied to gate 42
the reg was N517AT
it was guarded by both the Airport Police, in a jeep at the back, and a Garda Siochana patrol car by the nose... good to see our taxes being used to break the law ain't it?

Great to see folks heading to Shannon on the anniversary of the invasion of Iraq rather than getting the bus to Dublin for a meaningless march.

If the 50-100,000 who marched in London had headed to U.S. bases in Fairford, Menwith, Fylingdales, Lakenheath etc on this sifnificant anniversary we might be more of a worry as a movement.
