The continuing battle to stop Cloning

Wednesday March 09, 2005 10:33 by Rapheal .:. + @ xxiii - Reclaim the Genome! our planet & garden
Where doth that foul Evil lurketh?
The continuing campaign to ban human cloning has run into difficulties and the issue has been fudged by fundamentalist based politics and obfuscated by claims of Bush to victory.
The Muslim states abstain, Blair defies the world, the Pope mobilises the catholics,
the French and Germans original very simple motion is changed, but remains in the draft €U constitution .:.
The most recent UN vote is however a new milestone we must realise we have passed and clarifies the attitute of the different states and corporations who sponser the graduates and research programs. We know now who are enemies in this conflict are.
Letters & Numbers but no © = Reclaim the Genome! The U.N. General Assembly has urged governments to ban all human cloning, including the cloning of human embryos for stem-cell research.
Ending 4 years of contentious debate, the 191-nation assembly voted 84 to 34, with 37 abstentions, on Tuesday to approve a nonbinding statement on cloning.
"The United States and the international community have now spoken clearly that human cloning is an affront to human dignity," Bush said in
a statement welcoming the "strong vote."
(Bush the angel of the Lord is trying to take credit)
But was such a ban his idea?
No! The measure was proposed by Honduras and generally supported by predominantly Roman Catholic countries, in line with Pope John
Paul's condemnation of human cloning.
Q. Who gave him the idea?
A. long story. "wu ming"
.
It was generally opposed by nations where stem-cell research is being pursued.
ah but here the rub-
Blair (the antichrist) wants human cloning-
Britain condemned the "intransigence" of nations opposed to cloning for medical reasons. Opponents said the text was not legally binding and would have no impact on their scientists' pursuit of stem cell research.
the draft EU constitution bans Human cloning.
the Gaudalajara agreement bans Human cloning.
= €xpel the UK from our Union!
Many evil scientists, backed by governments and speculative capitalists including Belgium, Britain, Singapore and China, say the technique offers hope for a cure to some 100 million people with such conditions as Alzheimer's, cancer, diabetes and spinal cord injuries and make lots of money.
The U.N. debate began with a 2001 proposal by France and Germany for a binding global treaty banning the cloning of human beings, a
plan that had broad international backing.
The USA then took it on board linking it to the "anti-abortion" stance of Bush and murkying the issue.
No Cloning means NO CLONING.
= RECLAIM THE GENOME!
The assembly's treaty-writing legal committee, deeply divided, abandoned the idea of a treaty and decided instead to pursue a nonbinding
declaration.
The USA actually messed this up by widening it and fudging the understanding of the issue, pursuing a fundamentalist christian interpretation of life, which led to the islamic states surprisingly abstaining in the main, even though they are very against cloning, (there is no satisfactory word for "clone" in either arabic or urdu) [when we translated RTG! we had huge difficulty expressing the concepts of evolution, cloning, hybrids and other monstrosities you only think of in "sci-fi" movies].
Costa Rican Ambassador Bruno Stagno Ugarte praised the assembly vote as "a historic step" that recognised "that therapeutic cloning
involves the creation of human life for the purpose of destroying it."
But British Ambassador Emyr Jones Parry, who voted "no," lamented "the intransigence of those who were not prepared to recognise that
other sovereign states -- after extensive dialogue and due democratic process -- may decide to permit strictly controlled applications of
therapeutic cloning."
"Therapeutic cloning research conducted under strict regulations will contribute to the enhancement of human dignity by relieving millions of people from pain, suffering and misery," said South Korean envoy Ha Chan-ho, explaining his "no" vote declaration.
So the lie of the land-
Several states most prominently the UK and the Koreas continue to experiment with human embryonic material, several states and corporative entities continue to recruit geneticist post graduates and purchase equipment suitable for the development of cloning programs.
This issue has now been very much confused by its presentation. This is not just about biotech research it is about the evil marriage of speculative capitalism and science, and the evil marriage of speculative science and states or individuals with solely materialist philosophies.
We must not allow cloning of human beings or hybriding or genomic / pronomic research to continue or develop in its legality "by the back door" of "pain relief" experiments on "cells which are destroyed within time".

This is anti-transgenetic week in Barcelona and Catalonia, where a new bioethic and medical centre is almost built, it will stand at the end of the road from the Sagrada Familia to the sea. And there much of Europe's continuing work on monitoring the activities of corporations and states who do not comply with the EU and UN regulations as they stand will be done.
There is a concensus amongst the elite of Europe's ethicists and scientists "that we do not make human embryos for research".
There is not so far however a concensus that we must stop genomic and transgenetic research which has given the code of life to corporations who sell seeds and pain relief on the stock markets.
Shamefully the sowing of transgenetic seeds continues from Africa to the Americas to Asia to Europe and Spain. This is not a game.
