Schull anti-war protestor in Shootout!

category cork | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Wednesday February 02, 2005 15:50author by Phoenix Report this post to the editors

The gunfight that never was!

Chris Farell, Husband of a Marie Farrell, the Schull woman who claimed she saw Iain Bailey behaving suspiciously on the day the body of French woman Sophie Toscan du Plantier was found at Dunmanus West, Toormore, eight years ago, has made allegations of his own to Gardai and the media about a local man who has been involved in anti-war protests. More crucially , the man at the centre of the allegations has also been among the few locals who have questioned the accuracy of Ms Farells claim that she identified Iain Bailey in the dead of night from a moving car, and only remembered it seven weeks later when Gardai had settled on Mr Bailey as the “prime suspect”.

Chris Farrel and another man arrived at the home of the anti-war protestor outside Schull on the night of Monday 10th January 2005 and with the lights of his “Murnane and O’Shea” work-van illuminated the house. He and the other man proceeded to bang on the door of the house and demand the homeowner, “come out”. The homeowner came out and in no uncertain terms told the men to leave after what newspapers described as an “alleged assault”. Mr Farrell then went to the local hospital and contacted the media with a story of being beaten with the butt of a rifle and a shot having been fired at him. The story was carried on RTE and national newspapers even though when Gardai called to the home of the “known anti-war protestor” the same night they found his legally held gun to have been uncleaned and unfired for a considerable time. The homeowner then asked Gardai to take the gun for further forensic tests to prove his version of the story and dicount lies of a shot having been discharged by the head of Mr Farrel.

As a prime witness in the case against Iain Bailey for the murder of Sophie Toscan Du Plantier eight years ago the credibility of Ms Farrel is crucial to the continued myth of Mr Baileys guilt. So when her husband challenged a man who has been debunking the sham case against Bailey while more genuine suspect are conspicuously ignored, his story was enough to warrant the turning out of armed Gardai and national media before the homeowner himself was even contacted.

Having found no trace of a gun being discharged Gardai then proceeded several days later to search the home of the anti-war protestor looking for a “second gun”. No such gun or anything illegal was found but Gardai remove the hard-drive of the computer the man uses to post his stories here on Indymedia and elsewhere. They removed diaries, protographs from protests at Shannon Airport and other harmless household objects like a mastik gun complete with gripfill adhesive and an empty super glue bottle??

To crown matters, Marie Farrel herself has recently alleged the anti-war protestor “spoke to her” and claimed to have been “up at her house at six thirty in the morning”. The man in question was in bed with a flu at that time and is adamant he has never spoken to Ms Farrel . Perhaps we will see Ms Farrel try to get a gagging order against this man in the near future as a civil case is planned against Mr Bailey where her “evidence” will again be crucial to his continued persecution. Ms Farrel is a native of Harbour Row in Longford town and her husband Christy used to be a butcher in Longford .

The Gaurds who called would not be in a position to examine a gun technically at the house and I doubt he handed it to them as they would have taken it anyway. Just cause he's an anti war protestor dosent allow him to assault anyone even if they shouldnt have been at his house. I'm sure the facts will come out in court. if you friend or supporter of Ian Bailey as you suggest he deserves what he got, hes luckier than poor Sophie Du Plantier was when she met her end, fair play to the farrell women for giving her info to the Gaurds, too many women are being murdered in this country by men who can't take no for an answer. I really a certain friend of Mr Bailey getting hospital treatment on a number of occasions compliments of him. Good to see someone with guts and she shouldnt be intimidated which it appears to me from the article is what this is all about.

This is unautheticated allegation against a named woman in west Cork and should be taken down. Why has the author chosen to remain anonymous? It's not difficult to guess who is behind this self-serving nonsense.

Anybody taking bets on my suggestion that 'Phoenix' and Ian Bailey (a journalist with time on his hands) are one and the same? this is not the first 'story' he has posted on indymedia re. his alleged innocence. Check out the 'new suspect has emerged' one some time back.

Take this rubbish down. It was clearly published by Bailey in a desperate attempt to escape his huge legal bills after his failed liable trial.

Bailey - you are not making any more friends by engaging in this activity.

So is Phoenix indeed Bailey? Is Bailey really hiding under your bed? Is he behind the door?

Centred in the pubs of Schull and adjoining hamlins the local drink-talk continues to perpetuate the myth of Baileys guilt. As Himmler used to say, "tell a lie, keep it simple and tell it often". The truth has little to do with it. And as for "someone with guts".........? More like someone with a brass neck and a penchant for libel, slander and perjury, if you ask me.

And as for the myth of a "Baileys supporters club", now how would I get in touch with that group. Would it be found farting on high stools on one of the decrepid little pubs in Schull?

All this dispicable string of events seems to indicate is that there has been much to much inbreeding and controlling of public opinion by a minor little group of fascists in the Schull area. When will you all get sense and go after the real killer?

Its all well and good to place the anti war protester in the guise of innocent member of the public, and accuse all locals of being closed minded and ready to point the finger of blame at a person not of local origin.everyone has a right to their opinion, but before we are asked to swallow the tale of innocent anti war protester perhaps we should examine the other side , one given by a resident of the area who has read the comments and articles here about the innocent anti war proterster and saint ian.
firstly the anti war protester has left a number of locals questioning his mental health. In the past he has attempted to intimidate many locals and this has been wittnessed by more than one reliable witness. the reaction of the guards happened because the local and ex pat populus had for a long time been asking guards to stop his antics, fearful that he would one day go too far and do more than intimidate.

thankfully this has stopped since his "day in the sun"

Marie Farrel, was your time in the spotlight worth it!

Ian Bailey, who knows?only sophie
