WHO?
This Movements of Movement comprises of a mix of diffrent groupes and individuals.
This is percived as a weekness by some but, this is where I belive Its real strength lies.
From Enviromentalists to Anarchists, From Socialists to Gay rights campainers, and from Trade unionists to people who just want the world to be a better place. There is also lickley to be a large Anti War deligation this year. Where do these people come from? just about every where, all over the world. In Genoa I met Russians, Americans, Isrealies, Palistinions, Iraquis, Brazilians even Irish, you get the picture.
Seattel saw a symbolic linking of arms of the Trade Unionists and the Environmentalists (teamsters and turtles) Two groupes that had traditionaly been in feirce opposition.
This is a world wide movement, we in Europe and the USA are not spear heading the movement but following in the steps of Aisa, South America, and Africa who have been taking to the streets in there millions for years.
Whats become known as the Anti globalisation movement but should be known as the Anti CORPORATE globalisation movement. As this movements its about as global as it comes

WHY?
There are as many reasons as people but...
Common Goals, Common Enemy
So why have all these groupes with so many diffrent angles come together? Because there common goals outweigh there diffrences. The perception is its "Do or Die" time, there backs are up against the wall and its time to stand up and be counted, there is no second chance. Its no longer SI FI, the shit has already hit the fan.

Govenments have sold us out to the highest bidder, the rolling back of the State (privitisation etc.) has left Govenments with less and less real power.
It Doesnt matter who you vote for the Corporations always get in!
Who are these Nu RULERS OF THE WORLD? and what are there motives?
Motives would seem to be short term profit but the consiquences are all to clear:-
Nearley 1 Billion hungry while food mountins rot.
The raping of planet earth, Systematic Enviromental distruction on a mass scale.
The Growing gap between the rich and the poor, the haves and the havenots.
Racism and the Creation of a fortruss Europe (to keep out the havenots)
More WARs a "natural" "side effect" of capitlism which needs an enemy
Free Trade (which is neither Free or Fair) which garentees poverty the most of the worlds population.
End of Civil Liberties, Freedom of the press and Political Freedom

The Unholy Trinity (and there dark masters)
All of this is being done by the new WORLD GOVENMENT the WTO World Trade Organisation (anyone remember voting for these guys) the IMF International Monetrey Fund and the World Bank. This unholy trinity WTO IMF WB, tools of the Trans Global Corporations are being used to push through this Neo-Liberal agenda which only benifits a few at the expence of the many.

Are we are supposed the belive that this is some how enevitable, a natural progression, that this is the only way foward, that there is no alternative?
The biggest lie we were ever sold is "you can have Capatlism or Comunism" you have no other choice, RUBBISH there are millions of alternatives!

Despite what it might seem like Capatlism is on a knifes edge (and needs a push in the right direction.)

DECLARATION OF THE SOCIAL FORUM OF SEVILLE
3-5-2002
The Social Forum of Seville declares "non grata" the summit of European heads of government due to be held in our city on June 20 and 21. These leaders of the rich Europe are those with the greatest responsibility for the globalizing policies that hold sway in their respective countries, policies that put the profits of multinationals, militarism, sexism and racism before the life and health of working people. The Social Forum of Seville identifies with the underprivileged, those who bear the brunt of the self-interested and unjust policies implemented by these gentlemen. For this reason, as citizens of Seville, we ask the Andalusian government to join us in our request for the aforementioned summit not to be held and to support the demands we make of the Spanish and European government.
Among the most urgent demands, we should like to stress the following: Immediate and energetic intervention in the Palestine conflict, condemning the terrorism being exercised by Sharon"s government against the Palestinian people and putting pressure on his government to respect UN resolutions; suspending diplomatic relations with Israel and imposing an economic boycott on its products; suspending arms sales to Israel and imposing an arms embargo; offering support and cooperation to the Palestinian people; denouncing the complicity of the United States in recent events. Abolition of foreign debt, which amounts to a total debt of more than two billion dollars with the countries of Europe, a sum which is stifling third world economies, as shown by the devastating crisis in Argentina. Our immediate withdrawal from NATO, the termination of the bilateral treaty with the United States, and dismantling of the military bases of Rota, Morón, Gibraltar and all the other European enclaves. The recognition of immigration as a right belonging to any human being, and of the free circulation of persons, rights that are violated in European immigration laws and the Schengen agreement. Economic policies that lead in the opposite direction to the one being taken at present (Maastricht, economic and monetary union, Lisbon agreements, stability pacts etc.), which guarantee employment and labour rights, which put a stop to the privatization of public services, and put an end to the pockets of poverty and social exclusion that affect women and young people in particular; the Spanish government"s immediate withdrawal of its project for a labour reform law.
The Social Forum of Seville believes in a new, more egalitarian set of economic and social relations, in a Europe that is committed to the environment and those who live in it; that defends the equality of men and women; that defends Peace, the rights and liberties of its citizens and its national communities. For all these reasons, we should like the institutions of Andalusia not to agree to receive the heads of government of the EU in our city, thereby also saving us the considerable inconveniences and costs that this will represent for the citizens of Seville. Nonetheless, given that the central and Andalusian administration seem resolute in their intention to host the aforementioned summit, the Social Forum of Seville will show its opposition, convoking for the days in question various acts of protest and alternatives to the neo-liberal policies of the aforementioned summit. Alternatives for a globalization of solidarity and justice.
We call upon the people of Seville and Andalucía to take part in this social mobilization, starting by supporting our opposition to the above summit taking place.
