See http://www.medialens.org/alerts/2004/041118_Power_Of_Nightmares_1.HTM. Whilst it is tempting to view the program as somehow 'radical' or 'anti-establishment', David Edwards points out that the failure of Adam Curtis to seriously address either the corporate agenda behind the neoconservatives. The effect is to appear balanced whilst letting those pursuing the corporate agenda off the hook.
"Part 3: The Shadows in the Cave: Tuesday 18 January 11.20pm"
Should that be Thursday 20 January 11.20pm?
yeah i saw that too and thought it a bit odd, but i did a copy and paste from the email the BBC sent me.
certainly the BBC wouldn't be factually incorrect?
The goverments of several Arab states like Egypt and Algeria are persistenly portrayed by the programmes as being under attack by the Islamists (which they were ) "in reaction" Both Algeria and Egypt were brutally repressive regimes already. The cycle of violence was persued by both sides in these countries. The Iranian revolution ,surely a watershed in the history of the Islamists is virtually ignored by the series.

Good point! In fact it was fear of it undermining the USSR that was one of the main reasons for their Afghan invasion I believe.
Although I think the growth of sunni fundamentalism is the programmes main focus.
It also ignores the strongly pro-zionist character of the neocons.
That said it does cover alot of interesting ground in the polemic.
